I am a new user and having trouble.

Using Remaster Plus @ 9 with a Comfort Select mask.
I started out on night one with the Humidifier on 3 but it seems to be too hot. Dialed it down to 1 on day 2.
Still feel it is too hot so I tried on day 3 to go with no heat but the air seemed too stuffy to breath with no misting effect, so went back to heat(1).

Main concern is I wake up each morning with puffy eyes, and bad headache which I did not have before using the CPAP.

The benefits out way the problems I am sure, but am I doing something wrong? I feel worse each morning with the CPAP than without it.

I was told I would feel more rested, greater vitality, more energy.

Hi lpeeler,

It takes some getting used to wearing a mask and using the machine, but you are on the road to better health.

What I am guessing is that you are just not used to wearing mask with any humidification. I would keep trying on heat setting 1, and try and pick up some saline solution. The Saline without preservatives is hard to find, but I do believe on brand is Simple Saline. It comes in a can. i have bought it at Walgreen's.

The first month or so you will experience REM rebound. This is when you are sleep deprived and your body tries to hold on to as much REM sleep as possible. The result is feeling groggy when you wake up or just plain worn out. I liken it to taking a two hour nap during the day and waking up completely in a daze. This will pass just give the treatment time. judge how you you feel after 6 months of dedicated therapy.

It gets better as you adjust to using the machine and heal your sleep deprived body.

You may want to think about trying different masks. Each is so different, and there is a perfect mask for everyone.
