Re: Severe Apnea under control but still tired

Lisa, you should look into Stop the Thyroid Madness. For many people, levothyroxine is not enough. And you may be on too low a dose of Armour. You should go by FT4 and FT3, not TSH.

Re: What should I be talking to my doctor about?

Lisa, look into taking Vit K2 together with the vit D. I resisted for a year but it's made a big difference in my vit D levels.

Re: Need a new machine

So back to my original question, this machine is data capable & will work with sleepyhead?

Tino, thanks for the link.

Bwexler, I can't use Auto mode, so no need to spend extra money just to get an apap.

Re: Mouth taping

You can also try a Papcap - i find that it needs less pressure than a normal chinstrap to work.

Need a new machine

Hi all, my 2nd P&B 420e finally crapped out on me last night (after 8000+ hours) and so I need a new data capable machine. In the meantime I'm using a Devilbliss that's just bare-bones, which I initally bought as a backup/travel CPAP.... but I really need something data-capable as therapy's been a b...

Re: sleepiness vs fatigue?

I had an ahi of 35+ but never had daytime sleepiness, only fatigue. 'Sleepiness' to me is where yiu can't keep your eyes open, Fatigue is not being able to get off the couch. I bet an EEG could detect the difference!

Re: What Do You Think of BMI?

When i was younger, I was very fit from sports & weight lifting but always at the top end of the 'normal' BMI range. I would have turned into a stick figure if I had tried to lose weight. Later on I gained a ton of weight and though I hid it well, bmi went up into the obese range. Turns out it was a...

Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

Dori, I'm so sorry to hear you both got sick. Just saw this thread now. Wishing Mike a speedy and easy recovery!! Hope you will be able to get back to taking caring of him soon! Vitamin D always helps me get through respiratory infections, flus, and colds. In fact I no longer get lung infections sin...

Re: Fractured sleep, Ambien, dial wingin' and other things

What I'm hearing is that "settle where it wants to" does result in the DSPS creating a problem, so an attempt should be made to fix it. Referring to above Company Guidelines, you have 3 accepted approaches: Prescribed Sleep Scheduling Timed Light Exposure Timed Melatonin Administration And light re...

Re: Fractured sleep, Ambien, dial wingin' and other things

Ah nevermind, just re-read a couple of posts and you *do* have DSPS. How many of your spontaneous arousals occur during the first half of the night, presumably the times that your body typically *doesn't* want to be asleep?

Re: Fractured sleep, Ambien, dial wingin' and other things

Robysue, i know that the existence of "adrenal fatigue" is controversial, but it might still be worth looking into (since you seem to have run out of ideas!). A saliva cortisol test might be informative - perhaps you have high nighttime cortisol that's contributing to the wakeups, and low morning wh...

Re: Helping my 4 year old

I'm obviously not an expert on CAs or children with sleep apnea. I'll also go by my own experience here. I did notice that on my graphs, I would get sleep onset and wake-up CAs, especially in the beginning when I first got on CPAP. Of course that's not to say that these CAs aren't really centrals, s...

Here is the link in my sig: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com If you view their profile, you can also view their signature line. I recently started using Tapatalk too, love it. But when I go to my profile, most of my signature is not visible (same for other profiles), and there's no way to expand...
