Re: Marijuana for Sleep Apnea

As for its impact on apnea, anything that irritates the lungs and throat is probably a bad idea. Even without the tar, smoke still irritates the lining of the throat and therefore would probably make the apnea events worse. FYI - there are many non-smoke methods of using medical cannabis - including...

Re: CPAP Machines and International Travel

I checked to make sure that my machine would run on 220 electricity (it does) and brought an adapter. I also brought an extension cord in case the outlet wasn't close enough to the bed and in one case it wasn't but the higher electricity burned out the cord so I ended up having to move the bed. I al...

Re: How do I fix AHI ???

Hi, I traded my cpap for an apap because I thought that would give me greater flexibility in treatment. I had used the cpap for about 2 weeks and was getting decent numbers - as I recall my AHI was around 5.0. When I tried the APAP with the doctor's suggested range my AHI went up considerably - I do...

Re: unsupportive family

It is sad that your mother wasn't supportive of your dad using cpap and now isn't being supportive of you. I'm guessing that this isn't the first or last time that she's been "unsupportive" or mean-spirited in your life. Kindly let her know that this is something that you're doing and that you do no...

OSA and high hs-CRP

Hello, I know there is a relationship between OSA and inflammation. I thought that after successful treatment with CPAP that my numbers might go down but they have only dropped marginally. I try to exercise daily, take fish oil, ground flax seeds, tumeric, and pau d'arco tea. Does anyone else have a...

Re: Actual time between filter change ??

You're not supposed to wash the white ones. Scary thing - when I went on vacation (for 2 weeks) I had changed the white filter right before leaving and while in Casablanca, Morocco I noticed a paint smell when I put the mask on on night #2 and the previously white filter was totally black with gunk...

Re: Actual time between filter change ??

I change the white one every 3-4 weeks. I can SMELL when it needs to be changed. I wash the grey one at the same time. Bought extras online b/c insurance only covers 1/month. Scary thing - when I went on vacation (for 2 weeks) I had changed the white filter right before leaving and while in Casablan...

Re: CPAP Dental Problems?

I have root canals on my front teeth and they and lower front teeth have moved such that they no longer meet. After seeing 2 dentists who had no idea what they were doing I finally saw an orthodontist who made me night guards that I snap on before sleeping and movement and tooth soreness has stopped...

Re: OptiLife

I'm glad that is working for you. I use 15# pressure with my optilife and love it. I hate how the straps to the headgear stretch out and I use the papcap with a chin strap b/c I'm a mouth breather and that helps although it was designed for someone with a larger head than mine. If anyone is selling ...

travel woes

Greetings, I'm back from a 2.5 week vacation to Morocco & NYC. I researched plug converters, packed an extension cord, put a new filter in my apap, etc. 1) Somehow, when I arrived the plug adapter turns up missing but it wouldn't have mattered anyway as apparently there are 2 different styles of out...

Re: My Teeth Hurt...Help???

I too had sore teeth in the AM and consulted 2 dentists who didn't have a clue. In the meantime my teeth (although not perfect by any means - no braces as a kid) which used to meet n the front no longer do and both my upper and lower teeth protrude more. About 3 months ago I was fitted for a custom ...

RemStar travel to Morocco

Hello, From searching on here I think I covered but I'm just double checking... I have a M Series RemStar Auto machine with Aflex. I'm traveling to Morocco (!) where they have 220 voltage. Am I right that all I will need is a plug adapter so that my machine and humidifier plugs can go into my extens...
