Length of CPAP tube
Length of CPAP tube
If I switched the length of my tube from the 6' to an 8', would this effect how the CPAP works?

Re: Length of CPAP tube
The extra 2 ft of hose will add a very minor loss of pressure (approx 1/3 of 1 CMs). For special machines (Bipap Auto, Vpap Auto) it may have some minor effect on sensing and it is probably best to trial an extra long hose on those machines. Type of mask will also make a difference on the sensing.stepbill wrote:If I switched the length of my tube from the 6' to an 8', would this effect how the CPAP works?
DSM
xPAP and Quattro std mask (plus a pad-a-cheek anti-leak strap)
Re: Length of CPAP tube
Just as an FYI, I requested a 10 foot hose (upon suggestion of sleep tech) because I while I slept (pre-hose), I flopped all around the bed - once I was hosed, hubby says I sleep like a rock (never moving); hope this helps
Re: Length of CPAP tube
use and Intellipap, it has a built in setting for either a 6' or 10' hose. It doesn't give the option for any others. I do not know if other machines offer such an option or not. I would think that if you are going to a longer hose that the 10 footer would work better anyway since it is best to have a low hanging loop in the hose. I am no expert though by any means.
If it wasn't for my Marine son being deployed I would be sleeping good!
Re: Length of CPAP tube
Most quality machines specs limit the length to 10 feet. Remstar being one. Jim
