Re: Prepper question re long term power outage
This thread's starting to sound like Cormac McCarthy's chillingly post-apocalyptic book The Road . Don't attempt reading it unless you want to get seriously depressed, CPAP user or not. Well I do want to defensively say that my original post was not at all directed toward "gloom & doom." I simply w...

Re: Prepper question re long term power outage
Me....If things really turn to sh!t that badly, I'm takin' myself out anyway. Preppers, for the most part, crack me up. Apologies. Well hmm. Not sure any judgements were indicated. I'm not suggesting this for anyone else. Just asking simple questions for those who have knowledge. If "taking yoursel...

Re: Prepper question re long term power outage
You won't have to worry about the phone, no cell towers, no phone, no internet. I could watch my video library though. US older generation know how to surive, but our bodies aren't good enough to. The young have the bodies, but lack the training. Jim Yes, I know there won't be phone or internet, but...

Re: Prepper question re long term power outage
Lead acid deep charge storage batteries, have about 5 years max useful lifespand. You might try to find a couple that are dry stored ( sealed no electrolyte ) you can also buy the electrolyte in plastic bags in cardboard boxes, ours were 5 gal, 3 one gallon should do two batteries. When you fill th...

Re: Prepper question re long term power outage
Solar will be great....unless it's "nuclear winter" . In that case.... I imaging either diesel or pedal energy will be needed to generate electricity. Hydro would be awesome, if you're near flowing water. I'm sure there's a thousand prepper sites/forums with countless threads dedicated to this subj...

Re: Lost my post!
Thanks for your thoughts, Jay. I was actually on the Preview page, and not sure how I should have proceeded after correcting a couple of typos. I just select "preview" again to see that the corrections have been applied and then drop down into the attached composition window to make more, select pr...

Re: Prepper question re long term power outage
OK—Had to recover from losing TWO long replies that I attempted last night. Jeesh!! Well, despite my absence of several years here, I can see that little has changed at CPAPtalk. It’s still an incredible forum with patient & helpful people having a wealth of information & experience, who are willing...

Re: Lost my post!
Just as an overall side issue: It's generally a bad idea to use your browser's 'back-arrow' to get back to any editing window. That's just asking for trouble and not just on CPAPtalk . Maybe it's the particular browser? I've used it quite a bit as a recovery tool, but then I'm using MS Edge, lately...

Lost my post!
AARGH!!! Not once, but twice , I have completely lost my lengthy reply post when clicking on "Save" after editing a couple of typos. First time, I was not logged in, and when I did log in, the post I'd typed just disappeared. Then when I typed the post again, and edited it, the same thing happened! ...

Prepper question re long term power outage
Hi Folks--It's been a number of years since I was an active participant here, but life sometimes gets in the way. Forgive me if this topic has been adequately covered already, and I just haven't done my Search well enough. (Links are welcome!) My question: If the power grid goes down for an extended...

Re: Current list of fully data capable straight CPAP machines?
Thanks to each one of you for your suggestions/recommendations. I've been in touch with cpap.com this morning, and have gotten further info for fine-tuning the details. Appreciate the great help here, as usual!

Re: Current list of fully data capable straight CPAP machines?
Thanks chunkyfrog (must be kin!)--This chart is dated Sept 2011, and very helpful. Is this the most recent list you or anyone knows of?
StuUnderPressure, I am needing just straight CPAP and not APAP, but thanks.
