Re: Discovered asymmetrical face after weight loss/mask problems

I'm on an auto servo, so I am not really sure if my pressures have changed. What is happening with me, is that initially I just had severe sleep apnea (initial AHI 81) . Twenty months ago, I developed a heart arrhythmia, SVT. When I have the combo of the two happen at once, I have such quick desatur...

Re: Discovered asymmetrical face after weight loss/mask problems

Thanks for the recommendation, Roster. No, initially, it was that my weight was the cause of my sleep apnea and I would be "cured" if I lost weight. But like the unique person I am, my sleep apnea got worse when I lost weight, not better like normal. I developed a heart arrhythmia (supraventricular ...

Discovered asymmetrical face after weight loss/mask problems

I finally figured out why it has been hurting to wear my face mask for the last year. I've lost 180 lbs. in 2 years (with a LapBand), and have had sleep apnea (mixed) for 6 years. I recently felt my checkbones for the first time in a long time, and discovered one eye socket bone is about 1/2 inch lo...

Re: Am I "cured"? My auto servo bipap thinks so..

I do own an oximeter/apnea monitor, but it has been broken for a few months, but it is now fixed (replaced my finger probe). It should be interesting to see if I alarm with the oximeter. It's an old model, and does have the capability to record, but I haven't been able to get a printer that works wi...

Re: Am I "cured"? My auto servo bipap thinks so..

Thanks everyone for your replies. The University of Michigan said that I would always have sleep apnea, no matter what my weight was, because I have a large tongue in comparison to my airway. It still doesn't make sense though, that I have improved this much over these six months. I had rapid weight...

Am I "cured"? My auto servo bipap thinks so..

Hi peoples, it's been a long time since I wrote. I am doing much better, living with my mom in California. I have had trouble getting good treatment for my sleep apnea with Kaiser Permanente here. They test and prescribe without ever talking to me. In March, I was prescribed an auto servo ventilatio...

Re: Where do I sell a cpap? Ebay? Is it legal??

Sorry, I forgot. It's a Respironics Remstar Plus with C-Flex, a Fisher & Paykel Flexifit full face mask, and a 6 ft. hose. I want about $175 for all of it...shipping sort of depends on what the person wants. I actually used it quite a bit ..I am very compliant with my cpap treatment, and I think for...

Re: Where do I sell a cpap? Ebay? Is it legal??

Thank you for your replies. My feeling is that Craiglist may be "breaking the law" in some states, but in some ways, if it is a poor person's only option to get treatment and an "experienced" cpap user shows them how to change pressures, talks to them, etc. then, it's all right morally with me. Acce...

Stomach pain, Lap-Band, and bipap

I had my 7th sleep study at the University of Michigan in September, and they raised my bipap pressures to 23/19 from 18/13. I had lap-band surgery in March, and I was fine until the pressures were raised. For weeks, I had stomach pain. My bariatric surgeon was concerned the new pressures were "blow...

Where do I sell a cpap? Ebay? Is it legal??

I am moving in a few weeks, and I have a cpap from two years ago, that I don't want to ship. It's been in the closet for two years now! Anyways, is it legal to sell a used cpap? And if so, do I go through ebay or is there a better site? It's mine, as the insurance company rented it for 9 months from...

Re: Morning leg pain due to apnea?

The doctors seem to be finding more links between pain and sleep apnea. I don't know what the statistic is in reverse, but they estimate that 80% of people with fibromyalgia have sleep apnea to some degree. So, it seems that many people with sleep apnea would have fibromyalgia, don't you think? So t...

Re: Flu and colds with cpap and O2 desats

Hi Woody, I have to "qualify" for oxygen whenever I have a change in insurance, etc. The criteria for my insurance company was 30 minutes of oxygen below 88% each night. I'm like you, I have "bad" nights, but mostly I am not destating. Does your pulse oximeter have alarms? I am moving in December, a...

Re: pulse oximeter with alarm-- where to buy used??

I definitely destat at night, and luckily there are reports showing that despite bipap and oxygen, I can go down to the low 60's and my heart rate has gone up to 250 on oximeter reports. They were going to try to get the oximeter with alarm because I am so well documented, despite the oximeter rarel...

pulse oximeter with alarm-- where to buy used??

Does anyone have a good website for an oximeter with alarm? I need one that will alarm both for oxygen level and heart rate. It's been an insurance saga now for 3 months...despite it being cost-effective (I can break out of my heart arrythmia if woken, and with sleep apnea, I can up the oxygen) if I...
