Re: Still sleeping so much/unhelpful docs

Actually, I have cried uncontrollably only once at the cardiologist's, my "yell" is about the same as a normal person talking, and has only happened once. 99% of the time, I am calm and cool. And my "angry" letters aren't accusatory or anything. I state the facts and ask for help. I guess I consider...

Re: Still sleeping so much/unhelpful docs

I had a thought -- if I get in trouble with the law for "indecent exposure" in the doc's office in my naked attempt to get treatment, I could blame it on that is was a related and untreated parasomnia, so it was the doc's fault I got naked!

Re: Still sleeping so much/unhelpful docs

Well, I'd like a doc with some personality and a brain, not like my current primary doc. I don't care what he looks like, as long as he would do something!!! Anyways, I did look up the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor's website, and they do have a research sleep disorders clinic there, so on Mond...

Re: Still sleeping so much/unhelpful docs

I have been gathering all of my medical tests this week, but the only one that is ready is the cardiologist's. The tests from July said that I have mild artery disease and a slightly enlarged heart. This is not news to me, I had this for 5 years, but is another reason the docs should be concerned. I...

Re: Still sleeping so much/unhelpful docs

No, I don't have 02. sleep doc didn't "want to go down that road". The respiratory therapist at the local DME, who spent a long time going over the study, thought I should have it and he and I tried to get everyone to order it. But everyone defers to the sleep doc's opinion. When I finally did see m...

Re: Still sleeping so much/unhelpful docs

Thanks. I think I will take your advice about holding out for the good cardiologist. Since this is a mystery why I am destating at night, I need someone I can have a conversation with to try to figure this out. The jerk of cardiologist is incapable of this. Thanks for the insight that I need to hold...

Still sleeping so much/unhelpful docs

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about my problems with even with my ff mask/bipap, my oxygen was going down to mostly the low 80's at night. I've had an "emergency" sleep study, brain ct-scan, etc., and ER visit, etc. Problem is now, I am back to sleeping 12-14 hours a day. I am falling asleep behind ...

Re: As I lay myself down to sleep....

Although better, there is still drama going on. The reason the sleep doc had me do a titration study is because he believes that it is my sleep apnea only causing the low oxygen levels, and that he doesn't "believe in oximetry results". Everyone else, including 2 respiratory therapists and my primar...

Re: Sleep Apneic Kills Wife

At least he will get adequate and free medical care in prison for his sleep apnea. Many seniors lack care. It is whacko that it would be better for some people to commit a crime that gets them sent to prison than live a "good life".

Re: As I lay myself down to sleep....

Hi everyone, Basically, the sleep study went well. I did sleep at times, but they "made" me sleep on my back for a few hours, and I couldn't sleep in that position for very long. The other thing is that they did a titration study right off, and kept waking because of the different pressures than I w...

Re: As I lay myself down to sleep....

While I made progress today, I would like to scream a few choice words to my doctors. First, I went to the DME, across the state border in South Bend, IN. The respiratory therapist was great, and talked to me for over an hour. He said a pulse oximeter with an alarm wouldn't work, because I destatura...

Re: As I lay myself down to sleep....

I think many people are up not sleeping tonight about the economy. I have had to limit the amount of news I watch right now because I was getting so weirded out about my and everybody's future. The bipap is 13 months old. I had just a cpap before that. The guy at the sleep lab also thought that, and...

Re: As I lay myself down to sleep....

My newly developed sleep phobia is kicking in again tonight. If I was confident that I wouldn't be desaturating, even down to 74% oxygen, maybe I wouldn't try to stay awake all the time. I took some rozerum a few minutes ago, so maybe that will kick in soon. Any late night lurkers out there???

Re: As I lay myself down to sleep....

Another update... I finally received the oximetry report. Some of the stats: Lowest sp02: 74% Percent of time below 90%: 23.5% Longest desaturation of less than 88%: 9 mins. 56 seconds. Greatest deviation: 97% to 83% in 1 min. 50 seconds. Time sp02 was between 80-90% -- 1 hr. 56 min. Gee, Houston, I...
