Re: Gaining Weight since starting CPAP
I've gained about 13 lbs back of the 40 I lost before I got on the CPAP, and I have struggled for 3 months now to get my weight back to where it was. The weight gain is especially odd since I've gone from exercising 15 minutes 2-3 times per week to 30 minutes 4-7 times per week, I'm taking in less c...

Re: weird Flexifit 431 mask problem
Thanks for the idea, you're probably right. Last night I tightened the mask about as much as I dared and it helped, but it was so uncomfortable I couldn't keep it at that tightness. I'm in the market for another mask, I'll see if I can find one that's better for the occasional vertical nights.

Re: Weight gain the result of, or cause of OSA?
Goodness, weight is such an odd defining factor for OSA, because everyone is different and it doesn't appear that there's one true answer to the link between weight and OSA. I am sure I had OSA for ages, maybe decades, but when I lost 40 lbs it got so bad that I finally had to see the doctor to figu...

weird Flexifit 431 mask problem
Hey all. I have been using a full face Flexifit 431 (small) for several weeks and I really like it. However, my shoulders have been getting sore from sleeping in one position too long at nights, so I decided to sleep propped up on my back a bit to help the shoulders. It felt great except my Flexifit...

software & reader for Remstar Pro M
I can buy the reader and I have a way to get the software for my CPAP. Are those two things all I need to have the ability to print out a page with my daily or weekly readings? Or will I need to get another program to do that? I want to know if I can save and/or print out specific days, mainly so I ...

Re: sleeping better, but still must get up 1-2 times per night
I've always gotten up during the night, even as a kid. Since I started CPAP I've been going through different sleep cycles, and while some nights I can go 4-5 hours without getting up, I'm usually up every 3 hours like clockwork. If the cats don't wake me up, mask leaks do. Maybe if I ever get a mas...

Re: Cannot Fall Asleep - Mind Racing
I find that my full face masks leak during movement a lot, but once I settle down on the pillow they stop. They also leak if my face/mask isn't clean enough, and some nights just leak because they feel like it. I wish I had a complete solution for you, but so far the only thing that's worked for me ...

Re: Is sleep apnea the source of my anxiety?
For a few years I had some serious anxiety issues. I think my anxiety is part of the reason my previous doctor didn't believe me when I said I was constantly tired, he just thought I was a worry wart. I can say that since I started the CPAP that my anxiety has markedly improved. However, I don't kno...

Re: How many have lost weight since starting C-PAP Therapy?
I haven't lost since I started CPAP. In fact, when I started CPAP I was down about 42 lbs from my highest weight, but since I started CPAP I've gained about 10 lbs of that back. I exercise a lot more than I used to. Very frustrating. I think I'm just not burning as many calories as I sleep, and I'm ...

Re: So I drop into chat last night and was attacked
Browser, I came in "after the fact", so I wasn't privvy to what occurred. I'm sorry that the situation was handled so badly. What I gleaned after the fact was that your avatar or whatever you call it, was a "spinner" or a red color that severely bothers some of our members, causing seizures in one ...

Re: How many people have a back up machine?
But having both a backup machine and backup power are high on my list of acquisitions before the 2009 hurricane season! I emailed the Battery Geek folks, who make the BG-222, and they said that within a couple of months, they will have a solar recharger for their batteries on the market. Awesome ne...

Re: Poll: GERD and Sleep Apnea
Like rooster, I suspect it differs from person to person. I was surprised to see such a reduction in my GERD symptoms when I started the CPAP. No one even suggested sleep apnea when I was diagnosed with GERD, though, nor did anyone mention my GERD might get better when I started CPAP therapy.

Re: can mask affect AHI?
My experience with perceived level of air pressure and type of mask: -Full face mask: less perceived air pressure being delivered (and I think it takes a higher pressure to achieve the same AHI due to so much surface area of the mask) Except.....that the airflow is monitored at the machine (inside ...

Re: can mask affect AHI?
Crazy! I honestly had no idea masks could affect the AHI like they do. This CPAP stuff has a definite learning curve.
