Re: Redmed AutoSet II Clinical Guide
Thanks, pothole dude -- it was no trouble at all. My system was to click on the email address to pop open a new message, type in a short note and then drag the zip file onto the message and hit send. Ten seconds maybe. But, rather than have Santa drop off new stuff and building a new garage, I'd rat...

Re: my oral appliance experience
Thanks, Velbor, DreamOn and the rest -- I'd forgotten to mention that at my first appointment with the oral surgeon he mentioned that some people used both the oral appliance and a CPAP at the same time. I thought that a little odd, but when I got the device and realized that adjustment takes severa...

Re: my oral appliance experience
mdintx -- I hope it goes well for you (and I would suggest there is no harm in talking to an oral surgeon about this). I was doing fine with the aPAP -- the only real issues I had were with aerophagia. I wasn't feeling abdominal pain, but I was feeling back pain, and I have no clue it was due to aer...

Re: my oral appliance experience
OldLincoln -- that is exactly the risk. I'll try it a day or two at first, and then work up to maybe a week at a time. The worst case scenario would be to ratchet back the appliance to it's initial setting and then work forwards (about six weeks of time). The only difficulty with that is that the "m...

Re: Redmed AutoSet II Clinical Guide
You're welcome! And you're right, Keng -- On an old post, maybe from about a year ago, I did a long rant on somnodocs. I have no use for a somnodoc that doesn't want a patient to be a partner in therapy. All too often, I've had doctors that just take the easy, simple way out. I'll give an example --...

my oral appliance experience
I know that oral appliances are not always effective, and some people have great trouble adjusting to them. But I'd like to share a firsthand experience: Because of an occasional desire to travel, for several days, in areas without electricity (backpacking and canoeing, for example), I started to lo...

Redmed AutoSet II Clinical Guide
In an ancient thread, I offered to email the AutoSet II Clinical Guide to whomever wanted a copy. The "backstory" is that when my machine was originally dropped off, the DME-R/T who came to my home removed a CD-ROM from the box as he was handing me several things. He put the CD-ROM in his pile, so I...

Re: cpap and camping
I have a ResMed AutoSet II that has been working fine for me. This summer, while away for a week, I used it with a Black and Decker rechargeable battery, and it worked fine (I order the 12V adapter it needs from cpap.com). I tested it about a week before I left, to make sure that it worked overnight...

Re: Camping with a CPAP?
The answer is yes, potentially (electrical engineer joke there) --
You'll need to figure out whether or not your CPAP machine can take a 12V DC input, and then you'll need to get the physical connection taken care of, including the polarity of the 12V DC plug.

quattro question
Hello Quattro users: I've been using my Quattro for about six months, and I'm wondering -- at some point does either the mask or the seal have to be replaced? I clean it periodically, and it seems to be in good shape (and it works well for me), but I've noticed a little higher than usual leakage thi...

Re: Backpacking
I did just check the specs on the AEIOmed website, rather than relying on the specs on cpap.com. So, it isn't 6.65lbs. It is 3.6lbs (with one battery). Each additional battery is 1.5lbs. Battery lasts, according to specs, 10 hrs at 10cm H20. For me (and I'm facing a 6-day trip in August, probably 5 ...
