Is my new s9 autoset defective?

two nights in a row the cover on the humidifier popped open. this stopped the air blowing so it woke me up. is this a defect in the humidifier?

Push the lid down firmly 'til you hear a click and see the latch move. If it still opens then it's probably defective.
