Fat face? FFM user? Tell me what mask you love.
I'm in the market for a FFM because I'm not as pleased with the Hybrid as I previously thought.
I've read the reviews, I've read the forums, I've measured my face. I still can't decide between the Quattro, the Ultra Mirage, and the FlexiFit.
So which mask do you use? I've got a pretty round face with a decently sized nose and I'm concerned with leaks around the eyes and sores on the bridge of my nose.

I am going through the same thing -- I have looked and looked until I am cross-eyed.
I have a "Roman" nose -- long and narrow
I am looking at the FexiFit HC 431 on cpapauction.com -- I measured my face and this is one they suggested for me, and plus it comes with all three size pillows.
My husband has said I have that "big italian" nose, but it is not big, just long
Oh, and I wanted to mention that my home health center told me "you don't want to go the FFM route, believe me" so of course that put me off right away -- wonder why??
Take Care

The world is full of doubt, indeed, but fuller still of hope.

Have you looked at the full face Zzz-Mask? For me it's the only non-hybrid FFM that doesn't kill the bridge of my nose.
M Series Auto w/A-flex, M Series HH, Mirage Liberty hybrid mask, Respironics hose snuggie.

I like the fact that it doesn't have a forehead stabiliser, but I'm concerned that it goes so far up near the eyes. Do you notice any leaking around there?CRS wrote:Have you looked at the full face Zzz-Mask? For me it's the only non-hybrid FFM that doesn't kill the bridge of my nose.

A FFM touches more surface area there-by making it more difficult to seal. When you lay down you put pressure on your face, distorting it and making it difficult to keep the seal.skittles wrote:Oh, and I wanted to mention that my home health center told me "you don't want to go the FFM route, believe me" so of course that put me off right away -- wonder why??
Nasal Pillows are by far the easiest to seal. Nasal mask would be next.
Both 431/2 are very comfy masks, I just had problems with leaks. If your face is the right shape, I guess it will seal.
Good Luck,

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: Fat face? FFM user? Tell me what mask you love.
I have the 431 -- my avatar is pretty close to what I really look like, so I do have a round head. However, I seem to be kind of narrow in the nasal region. I mostly get leaks near my eyes. Both sides, depending towards which candidate I am leaning. The three inserts are nice, but I've tried all three. A really round head may tolerate the large, but it was way too big for me. The small one leaked on me a lot too. So, I'm the mid size.

Since compiling that post, I have gone back to UMmed.
It has been working very well, everynight.
Hope this helps.

The UMFF does seal very well even under higher pressures.

....you know, that is that "fickle" thing I was talking about,GumbyCT wrote:

the Quattro just about caused me one of those,
"I ripped it off and threw it across the room" moments.
I can not get them to seal.
The UM, very few problems.....night after night. It just works.
That is the Odyssey of the Mask

Ah ha, I'd forgot that the FlexiFit goes under the chin. I really dislike that (I had to cut the chin flap off my Hybrid) so I don't think that one is a weiner.
Thanks carbonman. I read that last month but couldn't remember everything it said. Very helpful.

I have a chubby face and the Quattro works well for me, I also tried the UMFF but it leaked around the eye area. With the Quattro I get a much better fit and no eye leaking.

Re: Fat face? FFM user? Tell me what mask you love.
I love my Quattro!!! Almost no leaks. I'm pretty round faced. I do keep the straps pretty tight. But I have a pressure of 16 and, at the moment, I have c-flex turned off.
The forehead stabilizer ends up rocking the mask back and forth on my cheek bones. But the micro adjustment makes it pretty easy.

You can easily avoid leaks around the eyes and nose bridge sores with a Hybrid.
Here are some tips on adjusting and using the Hybrid: viewtopic.php?t=14422&highlight=
If you need a FF mask, it will be a shame if you can't get the Hybrid to work. It is lighter weight and less confining than any traditional FF mask.
