I found a site that listed the following: Encore Viewer CPAP/BIPAP Tracking Software 1.0 Encore Viewer Software Packages: Software CD (PC) $139 Software CD & USB card reader $139 Software CD & PCMCIA card reader $139 Here are my questions: How or why would they sell the software alone for the same p...

Re: Another night & day in the sleep lab
kteague, I would love to hear anyone with successful update on PLMS treatments as well. I used Mirapax for almost 2 years. It helped a lot, until my body couldn't tolerate it anymore. Then I started vomiting everytime I took the medicine. Eventually I would start to vomit if I even smelled the Mirap...

I don't have a FFM recommendation, but I do have a suggestion. How about contacting your insurance company and see which Durable Medical Equipment companies they contract with. Then call those DME's to see if any them will rent masks or give you loaners to try to see what is comfortable for you. You...

Re: I can't keep the mask on no matter what
I think you have been given some excellent suggestions. I also don't think your idea of videotaping yourself is bad either. You might learn something about why you're ripping off the mask from watching the video and trying to correlate it to your CPAP machine data. Good luck. I can't imagine how fru...

Re: My fix for rainout (condensation) in Swift LT nasal pillow
This is just a thought, but would putting in a piece of cotton shoelace accomplish the same thing? I was thinking that it would avoid the need for sewing anything, and might be an appropriate size. I didn't know how important the bendy-wire part is...would the shoelace just fall without the wire par...

Re: machine choice for elderly?
Thanks for all the suggestions. I left a message for my brother, who also happens to be an internal medicine doc, to find out what kind of machine he has and if he has, or would be willing to get, the cardreader and softreader. If he has the same machine as I do, we'll definitely steer her towards t...

I can't give you any personal help, because I am WAYYYYYY past college age, but I can tell you you are not alone. Last night our local television station, that runs a monthly medical info series on different conditions did their feature on sleep disorders with a heavy emphasis on sleep apnea. There ...

Re: Hello, new here with test results.
Try to go into it with an open mind. You might be pleasantly surprised. I know some people have a really hard time getting used to it, but some of us took to it almost immediately. I didn't have any problem adjusting to it...not at the titration sleep study and not at home. I did have some problems ...

If you're convinced you won't try to get used to it, you might try CPAPAuction.com or Craig's list. I would only caution that lots of folks have posted about how long it took them to get used to CPAP, and once they did, how much better they felt. Are you sure 2 days is enough to time to make a decis...

Re: machine choice for elderly?
That extra smartcard is a great idea, and I never thought of it. Thanks. I don't have the card reader and software yet, but I am committed to getting it. I'm saving up now. I know my sister doesn't have it, and has no interest in getting it. I'll find out if my brother has it, and if he does, which ...

My 82 year old mother lives in FL, and I'm in NC, so I have to try to help her long distance. She had the carotid artery roto-rooter surgery this week, went home, then was rushed back to the hospital that night with breathing difficulties. After running every test known to man, she has been diagnose...

Seeking perfection ?
I know a lot of sleep docs seem to be happy with AHI's less than 5. I also know many of you tweak your settings to get your AHI's extremely close to zero. I was wondering... those of you who have achieved those really low AHI's...do you notice a significant difference in how you feel between AHI's o...
