1000 hours

Post by carbonman » Fri Oct 17, 2008 8:50 am

I don't know if feeling better or dreaming is the best
thing cpap has brought to me. I have not enjoyed either, for years.
Both are just so incredible.

A dream session found me confronting two aliens.....
you know the ones that look like the area 51 aliens.
My perspective was through my mask......like I was
literally inside this giant mask, looking out...
but it was my cpap mask.
I was afraid and they were talking and pointing at me,
but I couldn't hear what they were saying.
As my fear grew, they suddenly started to leave.
Then I heard one of them say,
"It is not one of them."......and all my fear went away.

It was one of those dreams that are so vivid and real,
they are imprinted in your brain.
I believe what it meant is this:
I am firmly convinced that cpap, specifically my mask,
is and has saved my life. It saved me from the aliens, OSA.
It saved me because, as they looked at me, in my mask,
I don't look human. They didn't take me because,
"it is not one of them(humans)."

I have a friend that is a co-worker. We only see each other in person
every couple of months, because he travels and works in another
building. I support his projects and most of our work together is
done through email. When we do get a chance to speak in person,
we spend most of the time catching up on our lives.
I had not seen him in person since I started cpap.
We had a chance to talk last week. After talking for about 15min,
he looked hard at me and said I was different.
"In what way", I asked.
He said, "you are so animated and your eyes sort of sparkle,
you seem.....so.....alive." then asked,
"what have you been doing?"

It hit me like a hammer, cpap, of course.

From the deep recesses of the abyss of my mind and
from the observations of a true and trusted friend,
come the testimonials of the real results of my
cpap therapy.

Does it work?? Yes, it does.
"If your therapy is improving your health but you're not doing anything
to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."
I said that.

Hey Carbonman,
Congratulations!!! That's great news, and thanks for expressing it in your unique way -- Always enjoy reading your posts....(whether I agree or not. They are always well thought out and well presented!!!!)

I've had that dream, but I'm always bummed out when they don't take me with them......I've always felt like an alien here...(that could be the ADHD, but hey........)

Take care
cheers

Den,

I just spoke to a few of my alien buddies. They said there's nothing they can do. He's one of them.

Sorry, man.

Carbonman, I hope your day job leverages your writing abilities. Wow.

With all of the back-and-forth troubleshooting / complaints / issues on the boards (not the I'm complaining about that--the forum is an unmatched resource for helping people solve serious problems with their therapy), it's fantastic to hear such a life-changing success story! Thanks for sharing.

And for those discouraged souls, stick with this therapy! It works! It may take some time for your body to adjust and for you to find the optimum setup, but chances are very good that you will get there and (believe it or not) therapy will become a "normal" part of your life.
Try the Scented CPAP Mask with Pur-Sleep's CPAP Aromatherapy--CPAP Diffuser and Essential Oils.

SleepGuy, this is exactly why I posted these thoughts.
I very much want to give back in whatever way I can to this forum,
because those things that I described would not have been possible,
without this forum and all the help and encouragement, I have received here.

Thanks! everyone for your kind thoughts.

I can only write what I feel.

For me, this place is much more than the mechanics of cpap.
It is a place to touch base w/others that "know".
I have friends and family that are supportive,
but until you strap on a mask everynight,
and deal w/those trials and tribulations, you really don't "know".
You know, what I mean.

Thank you for letting me share.

I said that.

Excellent, carbonman! Congratulations on 1000 hours!

P.S. The alien dreams go away when we finally have that mysterious tracking device surgically removed... Good luck!
