this is very common with new users, simple answer is to tape mask to face so the pain will remind you to leave it on
some are very insulted by this suggestion I guess its too obvious

Re: Stiff neck and back, dry mouth. What am I doing wrong here?
dry mouth suggests mouth breathing which can happen with the tightest chinstrap, tape mouth, turn lips inward and apply tape with doubled back tear off strips on both ends use small pillow, you dont have to lie on your back so move around in bed to get comfortable if all else fails, use a full face ...

Re: Blowing air Temperature and Humidity
Ive been using a CPAP since 1995 and have never used a humidifier or felt the need for one, I didnt use one when staying at las vegas, although perhaps the hotel humidified the air as long as you dont mouth breathe, the nostrils humidify the air you breathe unless you have a very high pressure which...

you dont really need that humidifier
I started using my CPAP back in 1995 and have never used or felt the need for a humidifier. after all the nostrils do humidify the air and I dont mouth breathe, having a nose only mask considering all the extra work a humidifier requires, Do you really need it, perhaps its just a fashion accessory? ...

Re: Third sleep study tomorrow night
best sinus fix is to use a netti pot to flush out with warm salty water, water goes in 1 nostril and flows out the other, I use a china coffee pot, needs no drugs, just the water and salt with blocked sinuses, a full face mask can be used so most breathing is thru mouth, they should add a humidifier...

Re: Great experience with chin strap
everyone mouthbreathes at first, taping the lips is the only sure way to stop it, eventually most adjust to nose breathing, which is best as the nostrils humidify the air for example when the power stopped recently, I eventually woke up due to the extra effort of nose breathing, despite having a nos...

Re: Has Using the Humidifier Lowered Your AHI?
as a CPAP user since 1995, Ive never used a humidifier and consider that as long as you dont mouth breathe, there is no real need for one, your nostrils still humidify the air and IMO, humidifiers are a waste of effort and give a placebo effect only, and I live in a low humidity area

Re: Does anybody else close their mouth...
doesnt matter about mouth, stay calm and breathe deep and slow, avoid rapid shallow panting as this promotes panic, start with full pressure and no ramp
get comfortable in bed, no need to lie on your back
be patient, you will get used to it
think positive

I wanted to use a nose only mask and so I taped my lips shut for a while to teach myself to keep my mouth shut ovviously the person needs to be not drunk or drugged, and the tape needs to be doubled back on each side to form a tear off strip eventuallya power failure made me wake from the pressure o...
