Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?
Dave, You have my sympathy - not nice knowing in advance it is likely to be troublesome. But you know it is worth it. I believe you can take your own machine but it does depend on just what they want to test. I would love to see their PSG info esp any capnogram along with the matching SpO2 data (blo...

Re: slight dizziness on waking up
Does anyone know if CPAP treatment can cause slight dizziness just after waking up? Thanks H. Hampton datahogg Hi - welcome Along with the other helpful suggestions, there is always the potential for your breathing rate to impact your feelings of dizziness. But to better understand if this might be...

Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?
PS Bev, that 2nd chart of yours sure looks good, did it refelect how you feel ? Nope, I pretty much feel equally bad every morning. I haven't ever felt as though I got a good night's sleep. Bev Thinking about your charts and putting to one side (for the moment) any influence of prescription drug si...

Re: Philips/Respironics BiPap Auto Bi-Flex - Breath-cutoff issue
Additional Comments: Machine: Philips/Respironics BiPap Auto Bi-Flex w/ System One heated humidifier (It's not in this site's official list of machines) I see "PR System One REMstar BiPap Auto with BiFlex" on the list. Good point Archangle. I am not sure my comment applies to the M or System One bu...

Re: Philips/Respironics BiPap Auto Bi-Flex - Breath-cutoff issue
The short version is that while I was trying to fall asleep with this machine, about once every two minutes or so the machine would stop pumping air into me, mid-breath. I'd "choke" and I'd wake up. My older auto or manual-titration machines never did this. It would happen several times as I was tr...

Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?
Bev Thanks very much for those charts. They actually help provide a useful contrast to Dave's charts esp the 1st one he supplied. The 1st line I looked at was the tidal volume & when you compare your 2nd chart with Dave's 1st it is obvious to see why Dave's breathing & tidal flow are such a worry du...

Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?
Dave, Some more comments on your charts. In the 1st one posted, it is worrying that your machine all but stayed at max pressure for over an hour !. Just to clarify this aspect. Look at Dave's breathing rate (during that period it was around 6-7 breaths per minute. His epap was set at 5 CMs and Ipap+...

Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?
Dave, I have my max set at 23 and it rides on that when I have an episode, sometimes for half an hour or so. I don't know how high it would go if I opened up my max. Not sure if I want to try it. Bev Bev Can you post a recent chart of yours (esp where pressure went to your max). It is on topic & wo...

Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?
Slept almost 9 hours last night. I say "almost" because I was so tired I forgot to put one of my smartcards in the machine. Oh well. Better living through modern chemistry, or so they say. Bottom line is I feel better. Dave, Very pleased to hear that therapy is improving again. Just keep up your in...

Avi, Were you ever in a Yeshiva ? - if yes I'll bet you liked the chavrutas aspect & also that you could & would have no trouble debating "how many angels dance on the head of a pin" Your interest in sdb is obvious. If you ask a question of anyone, try to spell out exactly what it is you are asking....

Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?
John Re bananas, tried that plus will also sometimes take calcium and magnesium tablets, but the one thing that always works is the quinine but for myself there are real concerns about taking it for more than a couple of days. Seem to recall somewhere that it can be as harmful as asprin if not used ...

Dave
Your charts show epap = 5 and min ipap = 8 but your sig shows epap = 8 and ipap = 11.
Can you confirm what your current settings are ?
Cheers

Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?
Dave, The cramps story interested me because I too take quinine but only when the cramps get serious. I have been trying to find any info I can to explain nocturnal cramps. My GP (who it turns out is also a prof of medicine at a nearby uni) says there isn't really any clear answer but he prescribed ...

Re: Anyone else hitting 30 cmH2O?
Dave, Can you describe your nocturnal cramps that you take quinine for ? i.e. some thoughts / examples - Do these occur consistently (every night) ? - if not what may be the different environment (e.g. summer, winter, temperature change, come and go) - When you have a typical cramp night are there a...
