Re: Respironics Fit Life - Looking for a used one to buy
I have a fitlife for sale or exchange--but it is an XL, and it is virtually unused because it was too large for my face (even though the sizing guide I printed out seemed to indicate it would be OK).

Re: Fit life Total Face Mask
If anyone reading this has had similar sizing issues, I've got a very very lightly used Fit Life XL that is too big that I'd be happy to trade for a similarly lightly used Fit Life size Large! (XL headgear never used since I had to swap it out for the smaller size).

Re: Respironics bipap st for sale 26 machine hours.
Judging by the photo, it looks like it might be the (discontinued) REMstar BiPAP ST Gray Model with Smart Card:

It says compatible with Encore Pro (if this is that model) but no idea about Sleepyhead.

Re: hybrid mask
The tip that worked for me was using a piece of dental floss to loosely hold the nasal pillow stems closer together, fyi. I still find it uncomfortable (but acceptable) and it is my mask of last resort for colds, etc. when I need something like a full face mask.

Re: Am I crazy? Or is my CPAP not detecting UARS?
I made a separate post for it, but my (confirmed) UARS graphs from Respironics+Sleepyhead are here: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t98286/What-UARS-looks-like-for-me-personally-on-my-PR1-bipap.html And no--my machine does not do a very good job of flagging any but the most obvious events (even on...

What UARS looks like for me personally, on my PR1 bipap
Hi--every now and then we get posts from people wondering what UARS might look like--and sometimes people are concerned about breaths in isolation. I have a rock-solid, serious diagnosis of UARS (40+ Respiratory Event Related Arousals even during a test night where I only got 2% REM, when events are...

Re: Redefining Sleep Apnea Treatment for Women: New Algorithm
Ha!! That's exactly one of the first thoughts that came into my mind when I realized this would turn into a product push by ResMed: "Good lord, please please don't make the damn thing come only in pink."Drowsy Dancer wrote:"Algorithms for her" would do a lot more for me than a pink "machine for her."

Re: Redefining Sleep Apnea Treatment for Women: New Algorithm
The algorithm has been designed to reflect the fact that respiratory events in women are typically shorter in duration, that female apneas occur mainly in the rapid eye movement phase of sleep, and that air flow is frequently constrained but not altogether blocked in female patients. Well, this des...

Re: Give away, sell or destroy my old resperonics
Absolutely! If nothing else, these old "bricks" are at least a stop-gap measure until someone can save up (or talk their insurance carrier into) data capable, apap, bipap, etc. I've thought about using freecycle.com, but it's not very active in my area, and I don't know if craigslist bans CPAP listi...

Re: Give away, sell or destroy my old resperonics
I suggest giving it away. There are many people needing treatment who simply can't afford the cost of machines thru DME's. So far as it's being a brick, I personally won't worry about it. My first machine back in 1988 was a Healthdyne with no electronics whatever, not even a run-time meter, but at ...

Re: He has no money for a sleep study, so why not --- ?
It certainly wouldn't exclude sleep disorders like Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome, alpha intrusions, restless leg syndrome, sleep architecture issues, etc.--all of which can be just as detrimental to sleep and not register in a high AHI score even in their most severe forms. If he's got insurance ...

Re: To users of Rx Provigil (Modafinil)
You might find it very underwhelming, for all the hype it gets. It leaves you in a state of "physically awake but still mentally tired"--you're not nodding off, but you can feel unnaturally "propped up" (like your brain knows you really ought to be resting it) on days where you're very tired.

Re: Cheyne Stokes? or UARS?
So, something more like this could be an example of struggling UARS waveforms? http://i62.tinypic.com/15zgx6u.png Only your doctor knows for sure. But what I'm seeing here on your graph is just one, max two breaths that might qualify, in isolation--my UARS diagnosis is based on the fact that I have...

Re: MASK EXCHANGE AND LENDING
I have a FitLife Total Face Mask (the "scuba") in XL I wore about 14 times total (with mask liners over the cushion) before a big pressure increase took it out of the rotation as my full face mask backup. I'll trade my XL for your FitLife Total Face Mask in similar condition in Large , if anyone is ...

Re: Take a sleeping pill or not on test night?
As always, talk to your doctor. But here's the argument your doctor might make against a benzo (like diazapan and alprazolam) or even an antihistimine, as opposed to something like Ambien, unless you're regularly on it and your doctor says to keep taking it for the study: they affect sleep architect...
