Best full face mask for high cheek bones/angular faces?
So I sleep well in the Nasal Aire II and the Swift FX but get ugly leak lines and can't use them when I have a cold; and my Hybrid gives a beautiful flat leak line but the pressure points it hits below my nose keep me up for some reason (I've tried adjusting every way I can and it's not even pain, I...

Re: gabapentin increases deep sleep?
I was tried on gabapentin for both sleep and pain (they thought it might be a two-for-one) and it did nothing for either. For what it's worth, if you're REM deprived, what has worked for increasing REM for me is Prazosin, which increases total REM time and helps consolidate/normalize REM periods (it...

Re: therapy break
Well after a couple of rough back to back nites (waking up too early, struggling to fall back asleep) I decided to take a break from my cpap therapy. The interesting thing is, the next few nites w/o cpap i feel the same, meaning still waking up tired and fatigued, I have been using my machine for al...

Re: A couple of questions about starting on BiPAP
Hi. I posted a few weeks ago that I'd had a titration study done. The DME finally called Friday afternoon and said the insurance company authorized a biPAP and I can get it on Tuesday. It was too late on Friday to call the doctor or my "health assistant" and I've been searching for information on t...

HELP: Using the Nasal Aire with the PR 1 60 heated hose??
I'd like to be able to rotate back in my Nasal Aire mask on certain nights, but have found that (unlike the Hybrid or the FX) the plastic connecting port on it falls right out of the end of the heated hose--which isn't the same grippy funnel on a standard non-heated hose. I actually had to forfeit t...

Re: can all sleep studys pick up UARS
One of the interesting issues is that my insurance covers sleep apnea but not treatment for UARS. Fortunately, my AHI was just high enough to qualify as mild sleep apnea. Ah yes, that whole thing. I can get studies done and doctors appt's covered (and even medications like Provigil) due to the symp...

Re: can all sleep studys pick up UARS
There's a super fancy test that involves a balloon-like object in the upper airway to measure Pes (esophageal pressure). Like the vast majority of folks, my UARS was diagnosed because my RERA index (respiratory event related arousals) was very high (40's), at the same time my apnea-hypopnea index wa...

Twin peaks! Breathing in twos for about an hour last night?
I woke up to a waveform pattern on Sleepyhead I've never seen before--it coincides with a period of sustained elevated respiratory rate, and a flat leak line (so nothing going on with the mask). It started about two hours after I went to bed. Has anyone else gotten sustained periods that look like t...

Re: I am angry at my masks. (leaks, neck pain, severe agitation)
If you otherwise like the Liberty, or the idea of the Liberty, I'd encourage you to look at the Innomed Hybrid (linked in my equipment below)--3 sizes of mouth cushion and 3 sizes of nose pillows come free when you buy your first complete mask. I happen to need the large mouth cushion with the mediu...

Re: NEW SEALED CPAP MASKS FOR SALE
I was only curious; I don't judge. I have even bought counterfeit "license" t-shirts myself. (the prices were right--ok?) --and various stuff from 3-day warehouse sales. Any time the "original" price of something is totally out of line, I will look for a deal. Crazy not to. You should always draw t...

Re: NEW SEALED CPAP MASKS FOR SALE
I hear the concerns but here's the reality: some of us do not have DMEs because we don't have insurance for durable medical supplies (my diagnosis of UARS gets me sleep studies and doctor appts but no equipment since there is no "definitive" treatment for UARS). My options are full retail for someth...

Re: Daughter in a group home
If you are not feeling better after 6 months of compliance on a CPAP after your initial titration, it is the policy of many sleep docs (and insurance companies) to allow for a re-titration. Make sure you have this done via an order by a pulmonologist (one familiar with UARS) to titrate for wave form...

Re: How many of you are 100% compliant?
It depends on how you define "compliant." I hose up around 90+% of the time, but machine stats show that sometimes I pull off the mask at the 2 hour mark, sometimes at the 5 hour mark, and on great nights, I make it 7-8 hours. I've started using Sleepyhead to really quantify things, and how good I f...

Re: Full Face Mask Preference
If you're not comfortable with the forehead cushions some manufacturers use for stability (is that what you mean by "band that goes around the forehead"?), there are models without that feature. I actually use the Hybrid (not the Liberty, but the Innomed Hybrid) because I like nasal pillows (but I o...

Re: Can any ol' SD card be used to capture sleep data?
I replaced a lost SD card for my PR system 1 auto bipap (the most recent one, 760) and was able to replace it with no problem with the SD card below, as verified by Sleepyhead and Encore. I did format it in Encore before using: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/752164-REG/SanDisk_SDSDB_002G_B35_...
