Resmed S10-No Release date in sight yet.

Post by freepostg » Thu Feb 23, 2012 5:53 pm

Was interested in when they may be releasing the next gen...here's the quote from their Cdn office:

Thank you for contacting us. We are not in a process of manufacturing or releasing the S10. There is no date in sight. Our latest and current model and platform is the S9 Series.

Thank you for your inquiry.

I am wondering if the new Resmed machine will have a pressure tube from the mask to the controller, to measure the pressure at the mask like Puritan Bennett Goodknight 425ST Bi-Level?

What was the time lapse between the S-8 and the S-9?

Just checked with Resmed over the last week again...still nothing on the horizon...at least according to their most recent reply...anyone else know of anything to the contrary? I'm up for a new machine in March and was hoping for the s10.

When they released the S9's, which models came out first?
You don't want to settle for an Escape (or whatever the heck they will call it)

as i'm new to this - no new models have been released since i was diagnosed - is there a major upgrade in technology between say the s8 and the s9 or is it mostly bells and whistles?

This is eerily similar to a lot of Apple product threads

That's old technology. Even those who used to used two tubes have mostly changed to single tube designs. You don't need the second tube if you are smart enough with how you measure and calculate things.

that's exactly what i was thinking and why i asked if the technology is really that much of an improvement - I have read a lot of posts here of people upgrading their systems due to breakdown or they were due based on insurance rules but what I HAVE NOT read was people coming on and saying: " wow, my new S9 is a HUGE improvement over my old s8, i sleep much better, it is much more comfortable and my ahi is much lower "

I'm not saying it isn't so, I'm just saying that i haven't noticed it and i've been looking for it

If you had been using a S8 machine or the similar technology machine in the Respironics line that would have been the M series machines.
Neither of those flagged centrals at all.

How much of a difference do you think it might have made if you had not had the advantage of centrals being a separate category?

S8 required a dedicated card reader; S9 uses an ordinary SD card, readable on any computer or cheap card reader.

You'd probably get the same response if they were going to announce the S10 tomorrow.

However, I don't see any impetus for them to release a new S10 design. I don't see any compelling new features or competition to make them want to change the design.

in my case it would have been huge - since i'm not getting a sleep center test I would not have been able to see that a lot of my apnea is caused by centrals - ranging from 50% to 100% when on the pipe

rumored feature on future S-10

#1 Smart phone docking station replaces modem and places calls to the DME when the machine is turned on & off.

Speed dial to cpap.com for ordering re-supplies on regular basis is a user maintained function

Oh well..guess I'll pick up the s9 in March...I do realize it is a very good machine...I just have this problem of always wanting the newest thing...must get over that. I've had the s8 elite and autoset for 5 years and have no complaints at all!
