On the rare occasions that I have a stuffed up nose, like with a cold, I switch to a full face mask. A full face mask covers the nose and mouth (not the entire face.) It lets you breathe through your mouth when the nose is too congested to get air through. I personally think every cpap user should have a full face mask stashed away in their arsenal for those times, even if it doesn't happen often. I like the ResMed Ultra Mirage FF.

Something else I've done is simply place my Activa nasal mask (size "shallow") over my mouth instead of over my nose where it belongs. The wide, blunt top of the "shallow" Activa cushion seals off my nostrils perfectly. That wouldn't necessarily work for everyone - depends on an individual's facial configuration. Works for me, though, when I simply can't get air through my nose and want to mouth breathe exclusively. Two masks in one.
