Air Flow "Cuts Out" on APAP

Post by queenwizard1 » Mon Aug 18, 2008 12:47 pm

I have an M Series APAP and after having determined a good number for me, I set my machine for CPAP. This week, after approximately one year with the CPAP setting, I began feeling extremely fatigued. Aha! It must be time to put the machine back on APAP to check my numbers. Last night I changed the settings to APAP with a decent number range, but to my surprise and discomfort, the air flow on inhales "cut off" leaving me with an odd sensation: not being able to breathe. Being airless doesn't last very long but is disconserting as well as a bit alarming.

Has anyone else experienced this cut off of air flow? Any suggestions on what causes this phenomenon or what to do to correct it?

A couple of possibilities (off the top of my head)......

In the "Setup" configuration, there's a setting for "Auto Off".......make sure that is turned "OFF".
(Large leaks or very shallow breathing can signal the machine to shut off)

I've seen posts by others who had "power" issues......outlets (make sure it's at least on a surge protector....not just an outlet strip)......the power "brick"......have heard of a few that had shorts or thermal problems.

Check Setup - Auto Off was ON - Turned it OFF!

Thanks for the tip Wulfman!
