Still here and working on using my mask. I get about 2-3 hours a night sleep with it. I have to wait till august to try a liberty mask so I have something to look forward to. Everyone is in my prayers.

The mask is the hardest part to get right. Don't give up, you will find something that agrees with you! Have you tried wearing the mask while you are awake? Watch TV or read while you have it on, it may help you become more comfortable with the mask.

Brothertony,

If you want to try other masks before August, folks here are often willing to sell the ones gathering dust in their collections pretty cheaply. If you know of a mask that you really want to try, you could post a topic like, "Anyone have a [mask name] I could buy or borrow?" or something like that. I hope your therapy is going OK, although 2-3 hours of sleep a night doesn't sound like it is. Another suggestion is to post specific questions that we can answer based on our experiences.

Take Care,
Cathy

I have been wondering how you have been doing! So glad to hear you are still working on it.

I have a little suggestion for your mask quest.... I have bought several masks from cpap auction at a much cheaper price than retail. If they don't work out for me, I have re-sold them all on that site and re-couped every cent I paid. I really haven't made any extra money, but just enough to break even.

Just an idea for you to think about. I did finally find the best mask fit after trying some 5-6 other masks and then reselling, all without insurance paying for any and me not paying an arm and leg to try out different masks.

Keep at it and good luck!

Brooke

The forum and cpapauction are great for trying out different masks. I agree with bap40 about buying and then reselling if you find the mask doesn't work for you. I have, also, posted on the forum wanting to try some different ones out and have good luck.

Try it you might be surprised.

Hi, BrotherTony! I am glad to know you are still fighting the good fight! You had me worried there for a while.

Since I know you are having many of the same mask battles as I am and since I saw you mention you'd like to try the Liberty but have to wait until August, if you are interested in trying a Hybrid, which is similar to the Liberty in that it is also a mask over the mouth with nasal pillows, PM me and I will be happy to ship you my Hybrid to try. For me, it just doesn't work, no matter how many times I take it out again and try it. I just can't get used to the nasal pillows, and it leaks too much for me. The only downside I can see to my offer is that I have cut the connector between the nasal pillows because I found it hurt my nose (probably 'cause I started out with the darned thing strapped way too tight, for a lovely pig snout effect, which likely shoved the connector up way too close to my nose). But I have the three sizes of nasal pillows, though separated, two intact mouth pieces, medium and large, and one surgically altered small mouthpiece without the chin piece which I found worked the best for me of the three.

If you want to try it out, just PM me. I won't be offended if my modifications in the interest of comfort make it not an attractive offer, but I'm happy to extend the offer as it is doing no one any good just sitting in the basket near my bed, feeling sad and neglected.
