Re: Why does anyone buy the Respironics PR System One????

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I had hoped that someone had found a way to read the machine detailed results for a week or so at least comparable to the data that is available through Encore Pro and James' Analyzer from the m-series auto machine. That is how it should be, but that day may never a...

Re: Why are the pressure needs going UP with weight loss?

Hi, my name is Tamie. My husband has lost 130 pounds but his pressure needs are increasing. He's on Bi-Pap 12/17 but it's not enough. We can't increase the pressure to his new prescribed levels though because of eustation tube dysfunction. The ENT is talking about doing a trach. WHY would his press...

Re: Outraged, Hurt, and a Little Scared!

Buy a bottle of 90% Isopropyl Alcohol at WalMart and use it to clean the oil off of your nose where the Breathe Rite strips stick on the ends and they will stay on all night! Ask them if they start to issue you a CPAP machine if it is "Data Capable" and will read your Apneas on the screen each night...

Re: Don't Want to Die (follow up)

To get serious, go buy a ResMed UMFF or Quattro that fits!!!!! Then go buy the software for your machine so you can see what works and what does not. It is always nice to have several masks and the software so you can easily tell when you are getting your therapy and when you are not. I spent a coup...

Re: Another newbie-sore nose, questions, rants

Well, I've been on the cpap for a week now. Dr prescribed 16cm. No major apneas, just lots of hypopneas. I read your forum for a few nights before going to DME. (rant) Annoyed with the RT because I told her a few things I read here. She said "Don't read those things on the internet!" That really bu...

Re: Mirage Quattro redesign?

The older Quattro masks leaked at the elbow and were repaired by using Teflon tape on the elbow. Always seemed funny because the ResMed Ultra Mirage elbow doesn't leak and is removable for cleaning. The UMFF elbow has a plastic keeper on the inside of the elbow fitting to the mask. Keep us posted.

Re: M Series Pro not recording data to smart card

After much frustration with the Respironics two day skip problem, I simply reset my card every Sunday after downloading the data and that is the end of the problem. Encore Pro will do this and the mycpap card utility also.

Re: Confusion

You can buy the cushion and cushion clip for less than $25, or they could get it for you since that is all you need to renew the mask. I have found that the problem more often than not stems from not shaving before bedtime, not cleaning the mask sealing surfaces with a warm washrag, or not cleaning ...

A $10 box fan from WalMart solves the problem. Just put it near the bed or blowing in a closet and CPAP noises are completely gone!!!!!

Re: Extending mask life?

I have been using a ResMed Ultra Mirage Full Face Mask for nearly a year and the mask seals as well as it ever did. It is washed in liquid soap and water every week or two and wiped off with a damp washrag every night. I find that scrubbing my face where the mask touches, with a warm washrag every n...

Re: sores on bridge of nose

IF it is a typical mask ResMed UMFF or Quattro, the proper adjustment of the mask is for the headrest to be adjusted until the cushion just clears the nose and only the inflatable part of the cushion touches the nose. Moleskin on the mask will not help you. If your forehead is immediately above your...

Re: Encore Pro smartcard reader issues, works once per USB port

On XP, I have to uninstall the driver and then let Windows find the driver and re-install it every time I use the program!!!!! It has always been plugged into a hub (as are 15 other peripherals). It worked fine until SP3 was installed! Yes, it is a pain. Since I use VMWare Fusion to get to Windows X...

Re: Tonights the first night

Good luck. You have a good machine if you don't really require a pressure of 20. The ramp is kinda worthless after a while, but the afex should be set to on and set at 2 to start with and can be reduced to one. This will make breathing against your pressure seem much easier. The real problem may be ...
