Re: "Backup" mask for colds?
Ewl, Many people have a full face mask to use when they are stuffed up and cannot breath through their nose. I haven't had much use for mine. Usually once I hook up my nose unplugs and I can breath fine. Its not a bad idea to keep a backup on hand. If your mask is rubbing your nose raw, it is either...

Re: I Think I'm In Trouble
If your sleep doc gives you crap, tell him off, get up and walk out! You live in NY, there should be others available. The same is true for your DME. You wouldn't put up with poor service and bad treatment at a restaurant, so why should you at the doctors/DME? You have your machine and are entitled ...

Re: Can someone help me with these readings
Krista, Your treatment is considered to be effective if your AHI is under 5.0, so with these numbers you are doing quite well. As long as you are sleeping enough and feeling good you are doing great. Your leak rate could be a touch lower but its nothing to worry about. Keep doing what you are doing ...

Re: Condensation on Mask?
It must be a very humid environment! I don't know if it would help but you could try a hose cover. The only other option I can think of would be a room dehumidifier. Good luck!

Re: 8 / Can't sleep!
Cpap can effectively treat Obstructive sleep apnea, and is in fact considered the gold standard for treatment. Because of its non invasive nature, the treatment has few side effects. Common obstacles to treatment include finding the correct pressure, a mask or interface that works well on the indivi...

Re: Changes To CPAP.com Prescription Policy
No doubt the new, stricter regulations are a result of the man in Santa Fe who last Halloween opened up on a crowd of people at a local McDonalds and mowed them down with his illegally obtained Swift LT. Or perhaps it was the woman in St Louis who killed off her husband and collected his insurance b...

Go to https://www.cpap.com for new masks, and http://www.cpapauction.com for used. The price would be much less. Good Luck

Re: Best Doctor to Manage Sleep Apnea?
Dana, Welcome to the forum! My criteria for selecting doctors is this. I prefer someone who does what I am being treated for every day as opposed to some one who does it as a sideline. The sleep doctor that I had does only sleep medicine, he doesn't do ENT, Cardio, etc. with sleep medicine as his se...

Re: Anyone "take breaks" from their CPAP?
This was inspired by a famous doctor whom I have known from childhood. Do you stop your CPAP use? I do not stop it, Rip-a-Van I do not stop my CPAP use Would you stop it here or there? I do not stop it anywhere! I would not stop it for a cruise, I would not stop it for a snooze. I do not stop it on ...

Re: M Series w/A-flex or S8 Autoset II?
Steve, Your initial leaning has you headed for a very good machine. Pretty hard to go wrong with it. The Autoset II is a good machine as well. I think the Autoset has better, easier access to data via the LCD screen, but the software for the M series is used and liked by many here who can help you w...

Re: Second Guessing My Purchase
Cass, Stop beating yourself up. Its very possible that you are still having events on your stomach, such as Hypopneas or Flow limitations, and even apneas. It would take a sleep study to document these and any other problems that you could be having. If you have "overwhelming" symptons that your doc...

Re: has anyone found a mask that doesn't leak?
Feklar, As a word of encouragement, it sounds like you are taking the right tack with your DME. Make them let you try as many masks as possible until you find that one that works just right for you. If you are having soreness on your face, it probably means you have the wrong size mask and/or are ti...
