I am figuring out my problem

I figured we need a real post or two instead of the SPAM!
To continue my sleepless saga I have been making notes for myself regarding waking constantly.
I don't have problems falling asleep anymore because my machine makes that possible, but I keep waking up constantly.
When I had my sleep study they did show I had PLMD which improved greatly when I first started CPAP. It seems now that it may be a return of restless leg. I suffered from that for a while when I was put on Zoloft and when they changed me to something else it went away. Now I am on a different med for depression called Nefazadone and I am thinking that may be what is causing it.
This sensation I have with my legs isn't all over the legs but centers around the knees. I am going to try not taking the Nefazadone and see if that makes it go away. Seems to me my depression could be from NO SLEEP! I may also try the Ivory soap under the sheets. I think if I get that leg movement stopped I might sleep longer during the night!

OSA is a cause of depression, however there are many others also.

So move with caution. Be nice if you knew what that 'other' med was.

I use to be on Zoloft now I am on Nefazadone. For a short while in between I was on Welbutrin.

Hi, as far as I understand, some antidepressants and other drugs can contribute to RLS.

I have to take a low dose of clonazepam every night so that I can fall asleep. Otherwise, my RLS takes over and I keep jerking awake.

Talk to your doctor about going off of Nefazadone (Serzone brand name). Also, you should know Nefazadone can contribute to problems with the liver and was taken off the market for a while. It is a remarkably good antidepressant though--I was on if for years and it completly masked my symptoms of undiagnosed osa--of course I was sleepin an avg of 12-13 hours a night (which at the time I thought was from the nefazadone, but now know better.)

Thanks Jen, that is a good heads up. I have already started weaning myself off Nefazadone. I keep thinking that if I can get some sleep I wouldn't BE depressed! I also read that anti depressants contribute or cause RLS that is why I started to take myself off them.
By the way. Nefazadone doesn't make me sleepy at all. I wish I could find a drug that actually let me sleep all night. I guess that is the difference in people.
My problem isn't going to sleep, I just wake up every few minutes and that does depress me>

You have, of course, removed all caffeine from your diet after noon, right? That means all coffee, tea, certain painkillers (most people are surprised to learn their painkiller has caffeine--check your label!), chocolate etc. Even some decongestants have an energizing effect.

You may have a daily routine that is keeping you up at night without even realizing it. Or it could be the antidepressant--some do that to me for sure! On prozac I used to lay awake and sweat all night long.

As long as I can remember, I would fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow (after staying up too late every night however) and would sleep continuously for as long as I wanted. The problem was of course, that I was still exhausted no mater how long I slept. In any case, never in my life had I a hint of trouble either getting to sleep or staying asleep until the week I started Welbutrin. Now it takes longer to get to sleep and I only sleep for about 6 maximum no matter how tired I am. Fortunately a month after starting Welbutrin I started XPAP.

My hope is that, after treating my OSA for long enough, the Welbutrin may not be needed and I can get both long and high quality sleeps. But, perhaps I'm just dreaming.

Truthfully .....if there is no chocolate in heaven, then I ain't going! Of course there is always the chance that it won't be my choice.

I take 500mg of magnesium twice daily helps legs alot .
