How does this gear list sound for my first CPAP set up?

Post by Ligament » Wed Jun 01, 2005 4:50 pm

Part Number: 1017476, Respironics REMstar Auto with C-Flex **and REMstar Heated Humidifier** Core Package. Includes the REMstar Auto with C-Flex machine, REMstar Heated Humidifier, 6' Air Tubing, and Carrying Case

Part Number: 1009583, Respironics Encore Pro Data Management Software

Part Number: 1014352, Respironics Smart Card Reader (**USB Port** )

Part Number: 1005945, Respironics Filter, Ultra-fine for REMstar Pro, REMstar Plus, and REMstar Auto, 2/pkg

Part Number: 1012911, Respironics Premium Chinstrap

Part Number: Unknown, Aeiomed Aura Nasal CPAP Interface made by Aeiomed

I already have an Activa, Ultra Mirage, and Phantom masks.

So, this is the order I just placed with my DME for my first CPAP set up. What do you think? Seem like a good setup? I know I may need to switch out various parts of the kit, but it seemed like the best set-up off the bat to me...

thanks!

Looks like a good plan. Might want to add the Activa mask . Might be easier to start with . Aura is nice but needs alot of tweaking as Rested Gal has shown. Compare prices at cpap.com. SAve us all a bunch of money.

Actually, I already have an Activa, Ultra Mirage, and Phantom. So got those bases covered.

Which DME is covering all this fancy equipment? How did you swing it?

If the things you picked out don't work, you can send them to me.

Looks pretty comprehensive.
The only things missing are perseverence and a sense of humour

Hi Ligament,

How about giving us a few more details? For example:

- How is it you have 3 masks already but no xPAP
- How did you choose this set of equipment, especially the mask
- What research did you do
- What is the price breakdown for this equipment from your DME
- Were there any obstacles with your MD, DME getting this equipment
- Do you have any special relationship with any involved
- Do you have an insurance company involved. If so what is covered

Many folks have had to jump through hoops to get what you are getting and spent a lot of time in the process.

Fess up and tell us your story!

Waiting and eager to hear.

I'm betting you'll have problems getting the software and the card/card reader from a DME, unless you have a specific prescription for it from your Sleep Dr. They don't like us to have anything that can tell us how we are doing.. They want us to come in every so often for them to download the data, send it to the doc and then a few weeks later he tells us what is going on. Some DME's might go over a very simply summary type report of your nights with you, if you're lucky.
