NOMASK (www.nomask.com)

Has anyone had any experience with the widely advertised (radio, New York Times) NOMASK that, I gather, can only be bought directly from the manufacturer's Web site?

Looks like it would be a pain in the butt to keep biting down on all night....

My biggest fear is rolling over without my upper Jaw...While that might improve my OSA, its going to kill my looks.

I don't, but would love to hear from someone who's used it, too. I'm a mouth breather, but their FAQ page suggests using a chin strap with the nomask unit solves the problem of mouth-breathing - probably true. Sure seems like a promising alternative to cumbersome face masks & headgear.

I have not used it either, but in looking into it I learned the mout piece is like one of those mouth guards used in sports. You heat it in hot water, then bite down on it, and it moulds to your upper teeth and gums so you wouldn't have to bite down on it. In effect it would be "snapped" onto your upper teeth.

I too thought about this mask, but I think it would be very uncomfortable keeping that piece in my mouth all night. Would this piece cause swollen gums or sores in your mouth. Wonder if the nose piece would pull down as you bite down on the mouth piece and how uncomfortable that would be. Did anyone read something about those screws and maybe the idea of them coming loose on this mask?

Have you searched the archives? Done a google search for reviews? I did, it is a boil and bite mouth guard with the nasal interface attached to it with screws. The mouth guard comes in only one size, but for an additional fee they will send a kit you take to your dentist who (for an additional fee) will fit you for a custom mouth guard.

It then fits snugly over your top teeth, no biting necessary. The reviews I could find were not complementary. They suggested it was a sloppy set up, with the pieces just screwed together. One suggested it was a good idea badly applied. I wonder if there would be a problem if the distance between your mouth and nose were different than what they planned for, I wonder if it adjusts in any way for seal.

I have never seen it in person so to speak, but as I said the reviews I could dig up weren't good. CHeck it out yourself, search this archive and those of other osa boards.
best of luck

I also wonder if this setup can cause a problem with your teeth like some people have posted about their teeth moving out of place.
