As long as I don't wake up...

Post by SleepTalker » Thu May 12, 2005 10:57 am

Hi,
Well, after just two weeks of cpap I am on my 4th mask (Ultra mirage FF - FF needed since I talk in my sleep) and find it the best so far, although I have to tweak it quite a bit and still find a leak over my left eye(I seem to get that no matter what mask I try). I can fall asleep initially with it on, but only make it until the first time I wake up. I find the mask more difficult to adjust to then. I have trouble falling back asleep so I take it off. My best is 4 am. Aside to do what I can to keep things from waking up (tricky with a 21/2 and 5 year old around) I don't know what else to do. Any ideas?
Thanks

What do you talk about?

Try putting a bandaide on your nose bridge. Then get a piece of Scotch
double-sided tape (it is sticky on both sides). Put a small piece on
the bandaide. Then take a small rectangle of tissue paper and stick
it to the double-sided sticky tape. Put you mask on. The top forehead
rest should be down at the lowest mark. This should keep the wind
out of your eyes while you give your nightly diatribe. You should
definitely get a tape recorded and tape yourself. You might be the
next great Poet, if you just write it down.

Have you tried the Severeena Mask Underlay? (Better known as the toilet seat/anti-farting cover?) This is Sharon's ingenious fix to help stop leaks with the Ultra Mirage FF mask.

mask underlay and bandaids

Post by SleepTalker » Thu May 12, 2005 1:35 pm

Hi,
wow, you are all great, I have plans to try the mask cover and will definitely try the bandaid too. I am very thankful for the advice.
Meister, I am afraid that most of what I say while sleep talking is stuff like "don't take the cookies" or "give that back," It seems to be how my brain gets stress out. My dreams however...they could make very interesting short stories. I have even been reading up on dream interpretation to solve the recurring ones.
I refuse to give up - I plan to have so much energy that I won't have to nap!
