Tiration expirence

Post by Kharris » Mon Sep 17, 2007 8:58 am

I went in Friday night. After all the wires were attached, I got to look at
about 5 different style masks, and just wear some of them while watching
T.V.
I went to bed about 10pm, wearing a full mask. It went from under my
bottom lip to the bridge on my nose. It may have been a Respironics.
And started with a pressure of 5.
While trying to go to sleep, and as the pressure ramped up, I could
feel the soft tissue in my airway moving........very strange feeling.
I nodded off a couple of times, but woke myself up starting to snore.
About 11pm the air pressure must have been perfect.
I remember looking at my watch at 11:05, and the next time I woke
was at 4:30 am. I had a leak shooting air into my eye. But I don't
remember waking or even moving while I was asleep.
And even though it was 4:30 in the morning. I felt good.
If I can manage to sleep the first time I am hooked to the machine,
with multiple wires glued to my head and body in a strange bed,
I am very hopeful and optimistic about the future.

Congrats on the good experience. You are on the right path to regain meaningful sleep again. Finding the right mask is a main key for effective and lasting therapy. You also found one of the best places for information on apnea and equipment. IMHO.
Best of luck to you,
Rich

CONGRATULATIONS! I'm always so pleased to read of someone having a good experience and some decent sleep during their titration. And congratulations, too, on finding the best apnea forum on the 'net!
