Can't Quit Obsessing About Machine/Software Data Difference
Sorry, but I seem to be stuck on this, I guess because I'm wondering if the machine is messing up on this, is it messing up on something else more important. (Is everybody's LCD data different from what the software says?) I know I should rely on the software, but---
I reset the machine to zero each night so in case I end up with one of those two-day-daily-data vacations, I can at least have the LCD data as "sort of" figure. (I always turn the machine off and then back on before reading the LCD data.)
I knew I had a worse than usual night with leaks bothering me, so I knew the numbers would probably be higher than usual. (Nose kept itching, nasal pillows wouldn't stay put, etc.) Snore index was higher than usual, but no "large leak" notation. This morning, "just for fun" I compared the two, and this is the largest difference ever in the AHI.
Machine LCD--- AHI: 4.9; Leaks: 45; Therapy Hours: 5.8; Blower Hours: 8
Software--- AHI: 2.8; Leaks: 47.4; Usage Hours: 7.59
Also, another quirk is I didn't have the machine on without being attached to it, so why are the therapy hours 5.8 and blower hours 8? Thought maybe the machine could "sense" when you are asleep and that would be the therapy hours, but the provider manual doesn't say that.
I know, I'm obsessing here.

Yeah, but then I'd see it when I pull the duct tape off to--egads--"tweak" my pressure!Goofproof wrote:Take a piece of duct tape and cover the lcd screen, then you will only have the real data to deal with. Jim

Pam,
If you HAVE the software, I'm inclined to agree with Jim......turn off the LCD data and just go by the software numbers.
That's all we have to rely on with our "tanks".....

I've stopped even looking at the LCD screen, preferring the more detailed report from the Encore Pro.
Someone suggested allowing the smart card to "rest" in the machine for at least 15 minutes after you turn it off to avoid losing data. Since I now leave it for a half hour while I have breakfast and start my day I haven't lost the two days of data that had been disappearing. You may want to try it.

I, respectfully, totally disagree. (See my posts in the thread you started.)
I wish to understand all aspects of all my health issues, included OSA. Even the best physicians do not have the time to sit and go through everything, and they can not possibly be 100% currently up-to-date. Impossible. I'm not tearing down physicians--there are a bunch of good ones, including mine--It's just a fact of life and time.
Therefore, if I really care about my health, I will take it upon myself to find out everything I can about my health problems, including software, books, machines, home diagnostic testing, the experiences of others dealing with the same problems, home monitoring of my blood pressure, etc.
Just curious--and maybe this would be a better question for the other thread--do you have a problem with end-users having the software for information purposes only? If so, why? And, if in your opinion that is bad, why is there now Encore Viewer?
I'm one of those that rarely changes my pressure, but when I have, I did so with my doctors knowledge and approval. Do you think that is wrong? And I did so within the range from the titration study.
I'm really interested in your responses.

Thanks, Susan, but I've done that and, unfortunately, it doesn't help. I always wait at least an hour, and I still get the "two-day vacation" at least once a month, maybe more often.

are we meant to infer from your response that an RT or a sleep doc would know why this discrepancy occurs?
if so, then perhaps you'd care to share....i, for one, would really like to know
i'd ask the RT's at my supplier but i would stake my life on none of them knowing the answer
thanks

I'm sure this was one of those posts "bear" was referring to when he said he was now joking.
Ya think?

Can you elaborate what you mean by this?Anonymous wrote:WearyOne, this is a great example of why this kind of software was not intended for use by the end-user.
How do you feel about the new patient oriented version of Encore, are you against that too?

It gives basically the same data...
