Might have witnessed car wreck caused by Sleep Apnea

Post by Mikesus » Sun Apr 17, 2005 8:31 pm

Was in old town Alexandria yesterday around 3 in the afternoon, and a woman blew thru a red light and wrecked her car into 5 parked cars, directly across the street from where we were standing didn't even touch the brakes. By the grace of god, she went left instead of right, or my whole family would more than likely not be here. She was conscious but non-responsive, dunno if it was a fell asleep at the wheel, meds, or a diabetic problem. Do know that I might get called to court for it tho...

Mike - Thankful to be here today...

Oh my! Sure am glad to hear that nobody was hurt. I can imagine how upsetting that was to witness. Sounds like Guardian Angels were working overtime... happy that they were.

Mike,

If you do get called into court and if it does turn out to be sleep-related, let us know how the court case goes. It would be an interesting to hear an account of how the law handles this. And it may be a good story to warn us all.

Yeah there were a lot of questions from my 5 and 7 year olds...

Had a bit of training years ago in that regard so all the first responder training kicked in... Nice to see folks trying to help, a nurse came up but she was all but useless, wanted to check her pulse?

Just glad that no one was hurt. (other than the newer mercedes that she hit, along with 4 other cars, all in all could have been MUCH worse)
