New BiPap requires a new Titration rating??

Post by dllfo » Sun Aug 26, 2007 10:16 pm

I have the Respironics Auto BiPap and have used it over a year. I am getting
the new Respironics Auto BiPap SV...BUT I am told Medicare requires my doctor sign a form with my "new" titration numbers on it.

New to me, but so is Medicare...anyone else hear this?????

I have Encore Pro 1.8.65 but could not find it listed
under software.

I LOVE the SV.

It's been my experience (as a tech) that MCR usually wants a re titration for everything.

What if the machine is "full auto"?? They set my original titration at 4/16 on the Respironics Auto BiPap. Later, with other complications I moved it to 4/20 then 4/25 to give the machine enough muscle to get past my Vocal Cords if they slam shut.

I have many places where Encore Pro recorded a spike IPAP up to around 20.

Oh well...I sure hope they can find my machine. I need to contact our hosts to see if we couldn't have done it here.

dllfo, I'd want a new titration if I were going to switch from the BiPAP Auto to the BiPAP Auto SV. There's usually a pretty important reason or two (Cheyne-Stokes respiration, CHF, and/or many central apneas are probably the main reasons) why a doctor would put someone on an adaptive servo ventilator machine rather than the more traditional cpap/autopap/bipap machines.

Given the fact that they'll probably need to figure out a good timed back-up rate for the BiPAP Auto SV to use...yeah, I'd definitely want an expert titration done in a sleep lab with that machine.

dllfo, did a doctor recommend that machine for you, or is the switch to that machine your idea? Not that the idea is wrong..it's probably a good move for you! Just wondered if one of your doctors suggested it or if you had to bring it up first.
