Lots of us use the Swift nasal pillows with APAPs with no problem.

The Remstar Auto made by Respironics is an extremely good choice. It is an Auto Titrating machine and will deliver the pressure you need with each breath.
The Swift delivery system made by Resmed will work with an Auto machine.
Keep a positive attitude as you start your therapy.

best machine?

The PB420E is an autopap that works with any mask -->it has a separate pressure sensor line. The machine is small, light, relatively quiet and provides extensive data through the Silverlining software. It has an integrated heated humidifier that is available and seems to work great. You might want to consider looking at this machine.

Not everyone is as sold on the Respironics C-Flex machines as some on this forum would have you believe. The Respironics are great machines, but so too are the Puritan-Bennetts and the ResMeds. If possible, trial machines from different manufacturers to find the one that suits you the best. For me, it is the Puritan-Bennett.

As to masks, there is lots of trial and error there as well. Overall, the ResMed masks seem to be really good. I am having great success with the Mirage Swift. The Aura is really a bust for me; I think it has several design flaws including an exhalation port that is too far from the patient's nares -->allows too much temperation variation which, I believe, contributes to condensation. If you sleep on your side, you are likely to get a blast of rain in your nose when you roll over to the other side. Not fun.

Having said all of this, bear in mind that this is just my opinion. The best thing that any of us can do is to trial as many machines and masks as possible BEFORE plunking down your hard-earned cash. Getting the right machine & mask is highly individualized; take your time and stick with it.

Hi:
I have the 420E, set on autopap, 6-14. I use the Swift nasal pillow. Other than adjusting to wearing the contraption nightly, I have had no problems. If I do have problems, it's a 'breaking''in issue, not the performance of the machine/or/nasal pillow.

I also have the software, so I can monitor myself, and I've reduced my ap's/pop's, so obviously the auto feature with this nasal pillow is working for me.

Saying that, I am not a RT, DME, DR. or any other set of 'initial's'' just a fellow pap'er, like yourself. Been on the ''hose'' since Jan. 28th, so going on almost 3 mos. now. Feel better, not great, but slower, and steadier.

Just to reduce the risks is enuf for me to do this chore nightly. One thing I do notice, my heart pounds less than before. Just think of the lack of O2, and metabolic slow downs from apnea induced events.
In my case I had more pop's than ap's, but hey, none are the best news.

Good luck, keep writing.!
