M series controls locked

Post by Flux » Sat Aug 18, 2007 7:45 am

Just received a trial machine, the M series with c-flex and no humidifier. Problem is, I can't adjust most of the settings, a small locked symbol appears next to a few of them such as the C-Flex setting, and the ramp function will not stay on.

I'm pretty sure the clinic did not mean to lock it all down either, as I was instructed on how to alter a few of the settings (well, barely just press c-flex button).

Any button combinations would be appreciated, thanks.

The secret code:

Unplug the machine.
Hold the left and right arrow buttons down.
Plug it back in while still holding the buttons down.
Keep holding the buttons until the machine beeps twice.

You're now in the clinician's menu and should be able to adjust all the settings. Please don't adjust pressures without some form of guidance.

Thanks blarg. Currently the machine is set to 4.0ch02 (I think), is this why the ramp button does nothing as that is the lowest setting? Once I press it, it highlights on the lcd screen for a moment then goes off, and there is no discernable difference in the machine.

Another night I have not been able to sleep with it, just too noisy and obtrusive; looks like I'll need to cut back my hours for sunday night so I'll be exhausted enough to sleep with it on.

I would make them give you a humidifier (unless you live in a tropical climate and don't need it). You may have to go back to your doctor and get your prescription modified to include it (because DMEs usually won't give it to you unless it's prescribed by your doctor). Not prescribing or including a humidifier is "sadistic" in my opinion.

You've never told us which model of the M Series you have and what your prescribed pressure is. Most of us don't even use the Ramp feature.

Make sure you have a physical copy/original of your prescription and a copy of your sleep study.

You need to use it, so you need (again) to contact your doctor and DME and tell them your problems. Did they get the filters in the machine? Do you have the machine below head level? (location of the machine makes a difference)

Good luck,

Den

Just says M series on it. I was given this machine on trial from a sleep clinic for 2 weeks (well not given, handsomely charged) I was just told how to adjust the c-flex (can't really tell a difference, it slows down respiration?) No idea what the pressure is, just saw various figures such as 90% ch02 and from 4-11 chm02 (or whatever it is).

I am quite annoyed that I was given no further instruction, I shall call them tomorrow but I have no time this week to go traveling up there to get additional equipment.

I have no sleep study copy, or prescription. It was never sent on to me.
