Teachers/student Hoseheads!

Post by drummergirl410 » Tue Aug 14, 2007 5:12 pm

I am a teacher myself. I was diagnosed, studied, follow-uped, and recieved my xPAP over the summer break. Tomorrow the yearly school year cycle begins anew! I find myself excited and motivated by the positive changes that xPAP has brought to my life in these short three weeks. I have successfully added the maintanence and upkeep of the machine into my morning/evening routimes. But up until now I could go to bed and get up when I felt like it. My schedule will now have to find some consistency again. I must get up at 6AM, which is not too shabby but also a bit earlier than I would wish for. My bed time usually is between 10 and 10:15PM. I am hoping the the improvment I have started to see will continue and maybe get better with consistency. I am also looking forward to going to school/work with a clear head, more stamina, and less fatigue. I also hope the difference will be noticed in my stress-managment and coping mechanisms as well. I also am in very good company with four other staff members who are long-time hoseleads.

I hope this school year gets off to a great start for everyone who will be returning!

ME TOO! I work year-round, so my schedule hasn't changed during my break-in period. But it's getting busier every day, as we count down to our September 5 first day of school.

I'm feeling better this week, with my adjusted pressures, and hope to continue that.

I need to force myself to get into bed by 9:30 pm so I can read some and then be asleep by 10. If I go to bed at 10, sometimes I don't fall asleep until 11. And spend way too much time getting engrossed by TV after 9 pm. Really need to get me a TIVO...

HAPPY NEW SCHOOL YEAR TO ALL EDUCATIONAL STAFF AND STUDENTS!!!!!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

I'm also going back to school, but as a part-time student.... but with a part-time job I'll still be busy, and I'm really hoping that the CPAP treatment will help me study better

Good luck to all the teachers as well!

i'll be heading back to work on sept. 5 as well...i'm not a teacher per se, i'm a parent educator at a family resource centre, but our course schedule runs the same as the school year...

having the summer off has always been a bonus, but with starting cpap in jan. of this year, this time off has been awesome for the extra rest time

best of luck to everyone starting the school year soon!

I go back next week

Post by khallow » Wed Aug 15, 2007 10:13 am

I teach pre-school special ed and am hoping more energy will translate to more patience and quick thinking on my feet as well as more energy in the classroom. My kids start the 27th and next week is training for us.
I am a little nervous about the cleaning routine and my morning schedule. I get up at 5:30 and get my son ready too. But I'll work it out.

Wow! I didn't know my thread would gather this much interest! Today was a good day! Sat inmeetings all day long though! It's strange how sitting for almost the entire day is as tireing as being active. I'm tired onight, but it's a "OK, it's been a long day after months of lazying around the house" kind of day instead of being an apnea symptom prone day! I'll take that!

Gee, Sept. 5 must be nice! Though we'll finish by the end of May!

I'm personally in favor of year round school. If I have to work all year round, the rest of you should too.

LOL,
B.

I dunno it might be better: the 20 kids with sleep apnea might be wanting to take a lot of naps

Unless they were 20 kids with treated sleep apnea, then they'd be full of energy! But it would be a real feat to get them all hooked up when they did take a nap . They would look kinda cute, all napping with their cpaps and little masks .

Our kids start the 27th, but I officially started today. Our principal managed to us to receive a $75 stipend if we wanted to work today. Our official starting day is tomorrow.

I, too, started my hosehead life during the summer break. I can't wait to see how I do this year. I had to eat all day the last few years to stay awake. It was awful. I even dozed off when I was reading to the kids and nearly fell out of the chair.

Here's to a good school year to all our students! Hopefully, we will be just what they needed.

for all those teachers or students who started over the summer... just wait... WOW... its a huge differennce.

I noticed more patience, more clarity in thought, more focused, a great ability to multitask and problem solve.

If you were a "good" teacher, now after xpap, you will be even better!!!! Take it from one who knows.

My students, parents, and coworkers noticed a difference.

Best wishes to all going back to school as teachers or students... Have a safe, knowledge, fun filled year with minimal parent problems.

Day two was well also. Less tired today. The body is responding, though I will probably pap-nap on Saturday!

I have integrated rinsing my mask off and emptying the humidifier water into my morning routine, just before brushing my teeth and hair. I take apart/clean my mask/soak the humidifier chamber on Saturday mornings. That way I don't have to worry with it through the week. Just have to make sure everything gets dry in time for that all-important weekend nap!
