new pillow idea (side sleeper)
new pillow idea (side sleeper)
Hi all,
You know those "wheat bags" of various shapes and sizes that you heat in the microwave and use as heat packs?
I've just had some very comfortable nights with improved stats using a selection of these (unheated) under my head. I use my thinning down pillow as a base, then a biggish oblong paneled one (meant for the small of the back) then a floppy crescent shaped one (meant for the neck). I adjust the floppy tail of the floppy crescent to support my dodgy neck, and the crescent supports my skull behind my ear then curves forwards toward the top of my head. It even seems to work when I sleep on my back or my other side, though I'm not sure how as I'm only half awake when I turn over.
The first night it felt a little hard, but now it's fine.

You should try a buckwheat husk pillow.
They are similar to what you are doing, but they are lighter, and the hulls absorb humidity in the hot summer. My daughter has used one for over 10 years and she just loves it.
You can find them online, and sometimes in local stores too.

Sounds like a great idea. Like the thought of cool pillows in summer too - the down does get very warm. Thanks!

Re: new pillow idea (side sleeper)
I recently switched to a soft down pillow on top of a flat pillow. Cradles my head and neck and mask. The only problem is that occasionally the exhaust port will blow into the pillow and wake me up.
Re: new pillow idea (side sleeper)
Can anyone recommend where to buy a good cpap pillow?
Re: new pillow idea (side sleeper)
I am a side sleeper, primarily and have used a buckwheat husk pillow for over ten years. Mine is warm in winter and cool in summer, seems strange but it's true. Another "hard to believe", it is easy to shape and holds the shape fairly well. On the minus side: some people will find these pillows too noisy, I only noticed the noise for the first week or so.

Cpap.com has them all. Cpap.com and cpaptalk are one and the same.debbie28 wrote:Can anyone recommend where to buy a good cpap pillow?

Re: new pillow idea (side sleeper)
Has anyone seen a traditional Japanese 'basket' pillow?
I have also seen a pillow that sort of looked like a little hammock.
Design has come a long ways.

Re: new pillow idea (side sleeper)
I use a CPAP pillow that I bought on Amazon. It's a firm pillow with a cutout on each side for the mask (they work). I bought the accessory kit to get more height but I could have done just as well with a piece of foam cut to size.
