You can BUY a bipap or apap without a scrip on craigs etc.
Thats what i did.
My ongoing problems were solved quickly after getting bipap, and my sleeptest did not call for one.

Re: I'm beginning to despair
ARE YOU SURE YOU DONT NEED A BIPAP? ARE YOU SURE YOU DONT NEED AN AUTOMATIC? ARE YOU SURE YOU DONT HAVE CENTRAL APNEA? Dont forget, sleep tests are not the "final say". You can have problems that you dont exhibit that night. Personally, I dont understand why anyone is on a cpap at all. The second pr...

Horror Stories Pre- Apnea Diagnosis
It easy to forget that i was on the verge of stroking out in my sleep......PRE diagnosis. Would like to hear any/all interesting horror stories. MINE: Been a back sleeper since college. In fact, I had "trained" myself to lay perfectly flat, without using a pillow. Many mornings I would awaken in the...

You guys probably have strong immune systems.
Not recommended, because you've got bacteria growing in there.

Re: Please help with advice on hyperventilating /short of breath
1. a septoplasty might help, resection the turbinates, or septum
2. the pressure might be too much, you may have to accept a lower pressure
3. you might have asthma
4. you might be backsleeping
5. medication might help such as effexxor or seroquel

Re: Dizziness, Tremors, Twitches and Cramps
I went to cleveland clinic for this type of thing, granted, in the midst of getting on a bipap. 1. You could be experiencing something called "periodic paralysis". They treat that with mega duty potassium. 2. Your CPAP might show good AHI, but in reality, you need a BIPAP (that was me until i self d...

Re: A-Flex(nasal mask) Vs. BiPap(fullface mask)
RESMED MIRAGE. You are right. I called it a quattro. I think the septoplasty gave me more inhalation ability (power). A couple years ago I told my sleepdoc I wanted bipap instead of CPAP. Best decision ever. Completely rid me of apneas, DESPITE my AHI always being good. And I always used a fullface....

Re: Mouth breathing, detrimental?
In my opinion, yes.
Mouth breathing is not ideal for cpap.
Your body wants to breathe through the nose when you are sleeping.
Alternating back and forth is bad too.

Re: Still snoring with CPAP on, newbie here
To be blunt, I NEVER believe anyone should be on CPAP.
The airway can collapse at precisely the end of inhale, which is when most apnea occurs anyway from what i read.
I was on cpap, had good numbers, and was still having bad apneas.

A-Flex(nasal mask) Vs. BiPap(fullface mask)
A couple years ago I told my sleepdoc I wanted bipap instead of CPAP. Best decision ever. Completely rid me of apneas, DESPITE my AHI always being good. And I always used a fullface. Flash forward. Had nasal surgery for turbinates. Can breathe somewhat nasal now. TRYING an older A-Flex with a QUATTR...

Strategies: Ideal Spot CPAP Machine During Sleep?
Where do you put your machine? On the bedside stand right? Sounds rhetorical but I've discovered several strategies and problems in 5 years. 1. Near a cool spot or window is best to get fresh air, especially in winter. Anywhere near a heater vent and you are gonna be dry mouthed all day. 2. NEVER p...

Yep. We've all had that. Or that mask coming off or a giant leak.
