Re: Are many of you needlessly using a humidifier ?
When I got contact lenses, the optician checked my eyes for tear production. My eyes produced borderline amount of tears, only just enough to let me wear the contacts. As our noses run when we cry, maybe our rate of tear production is related to the amount of moisture in our nasal mucosa. The more l...

Re: Newbie - First night on CPAP tonight!
Hi Brendon and Lioness, Welcome. Lioness, how did you go with your first night on the hose? Brendon, you are doing very well to get 5 hours straight on your first night. Please don't be discouraged. You will find the machine gives you your life back, but it won't happen suddenly. You will have some ...

Re: Anyone had problems with clenching their teeth?
I've been wearing a mouth guard at night for many years to prevent teeth clenching at night that wore my front teeth down and cracked the molars. It is custom made (the dentist took casts of my teeth and sent them away). I soften it in warm water before use and it is very snug and comfortable. It to...

another update
The humidifier:
Yesterday I noticed the silicone seal round the top extending to the vents of the humidifier had come loose at one of the vents. It was impossible to fit back in properly.
That would account for the difficulty fitting the lid.

Re: F&P auto - instruction manual please?
Thanks Wolfman, It 's an F&P Icon Auto.
There are no buttons on top, but a dial on the front with a button in the middle. The tec appeared to set it very easily using these.
regards

F&P auto - instruction manual please?
Hi Everyone, I have to wait till Oct 5th to get my usual machine back from the sleep clinic. I am turning back into a zombie with the minimum pressure set at 9 at the insistence of the clinic staff. The girl compromised by raising it from the 6 on my prescription, but I need it at 10.6. anyone know ...

Just an update to report I'm finding it much easier to open and close the humidifier now.

If I go short of sleep though, it's back to the pre-cpap state in a matter of days.

Re: F&P Icon Auto, early review and request for clin. manual
I'm curious about the SensAwake feature. My understanding is that it will reduce the pressure when you are awake. Does it still give you enough pressure so that you don't feel like you are suffocating? Hi Janknitz. No, it just feels comfortable. Before I realised I hadn't got the humidifier on righ...

Re: F&P Icon Auto, v Resmed S8
Hi Mimi7grands, Pros: The quality of sleep I get seems much better, though the S8 was very good too. My mask is more comfortable and doesn't play up as much. I don't have to keep moving the bedcovers away from the mask because of "whooshing". I think it is quieter. The humidifier is machine washable...

Re: Still feel sleepy during the day.
I have a theory that when we suffer long term sleep apnoea, we respond to the decreased oxygen in our blood by increasing our red blood cells containing haemoglobin, which carries energy-giving oxygen to the cells. That way our body gets by in an oxygen depleted state, similar to those who live at h...

Re: laughing stock of the hospital
In my hospital, the staff are gradually being taught that the endicrinologists want to be consulted regarding every diabetic inpatient. It takes time to educate all the staff though.
