Any nasal pillow mask that vents *upward*?

I'm afraid I'm not having much luck figuring this out by looking at photos online. I had my son a month ago and have been trouble getting enough sleep with my CPAP since then, because I fall asleep feeding him. I need a nasal pillow mask that I can configure so the tubing goes up over my head instea...

Re: CPAP and Air Travel

I've flown with mine once every month or two for the last three years, domestically and internationally. Carry it on, don't put non-medical stuff in your CPAP case (you can put other medical things in, like medication, contact lens supplies, etc.), take it out of the bag like you would with a laptop...

Re: How do you clean your headgear straps?

I use a net bag made for lingerie, throw them in there and wash them with the delicate laundry. We have to use gentle detergent anyway due to my DH's allergies so I don't know how regular detergent would be.

Re: Nasal pillows for side sleepers?

I'm a side sleeper and have used the ComfortLite 2, the OptiLife, and the Opus. No problems side-sleeping with any of them, although I got sore nostrils from the CL2. So I'd suggest trying a different (maybe thicker/firmer) pillow.

Re: Any "younger" people on here?

I'm almost 32, was diagnosed 3 years ago, and the first time I remember complaining to a doctor that I was tired all the time was when I was 11.

Re: How long until I feel the benefits of CPAP

Some people feel better right away, some don't realize it until they look back over the past several months and realize they've gradually been getting better. It takes about 3-6 months to pay off "sleep debt," but many people find that even after that, they still need to get healthy--for example, if...

Re: Highest water capacity available in free-standing humidifier

Every few hours?! I live in the desert where the ambient humidity is frequently at or below 10% and my 350mL Sandman humidifier (set to 8 of 10) lasts me 2 full nights!

Re: Question for those with GK420E

I broke mine the same way as WillSucceed, also under warranty, so I got a replacement Sandman Auto instead. I thought they'd stopped selling the 420E, actually. If I were you, I'd run the machine as straight CPAP for a night or two, that should get the sensor line dried out and prevent it from overc...

Re: Newbie and Airlines

I've never heard of a machine that adjusted automatically at 10,000 feet. I looked carefully because I live in Albuquerque (5000 feet) but frequently have to travel to Santa Fe for work (7500 feet). My machine works in Santa Fe, but not at 10,000 feet (it's rated for up to 9000). I've used my machin...

Re: a personal question..

Funny thing is I never got up during the night to go to the bathroom, but my husband did... 2 - 3 times every night. When I started my CPAP, he stopped. It's been 2 months, and no more waking up to go to to the bathroom for him! He also said that my first night on CPAP was the best night of sleep H...

Re: Update on my nasal pillows

Yeah, definitely replace them at least every 3 months. By the end of 3 months when I replace mine, I can really tell the difference in how well I sleep.

Re: Car choices for CPAP?

Our Mercury Mariner has a 110V outlet (i.e. a regular outlet like you'd find in the wall). I've only used it when my husband was driving; if I were driving by myself and needed to pull over, I'd use the portable CPAP battery instead of the car's. Although since I have a hybrid, it would be less of a...

Re: Just Diagnosed with OSA need some advice

The hose cover is necessary if the air inside the hose is ever significantly warmer than the air in the room (the water will condense in the hose, then pour on your face--this is called "rainout"), but you can mitigate it somewhat by keeping the hose under the covers with you. Although honestly I ha...

Re: Goodnight 420G

Was this a new-ish machine? If so, call your supplier IMMEDIATELY. My 420E died about a bit over a year ago (on Christmas Eve 2008) and my supplier told me that ALL GoodKnight 420 machines (esp. the G, but also the others) manufactured after January 2007 or so are continued to be inferior and should...
