New ResMed Mirage Liberty

Post by jabberwock » Tue May 22, 2007 3:54 pm

Has anyone had a chance to try the new Liberty yet?

I was thinking of trying the Hybrid, but if the Liberty is better, I may wait.

Thanks.

Bonnie

I have tried the hybrid but could not get it to stop leaking.

I talked to my RT about the Liberty. RT says the Liberty is supposed to be better. Resmed supposedly addressed all the engineering issues with the Hybrid. I plan to try it, but, since I was the first patient at my DME to try the liberty, I will not be their first patient to try the Liberty. They will get someone else to try it first, or, they will give me a discount on my portion of the mask to get their information.

I Love My DME!

Caution! I brake for Elves, Fairies, Gnomes, Leprechauns, Unicorns, Dragons & and other invisible creatures only I can see!

Liberty mask

I really like my new Liberty!
I only got it for when my nose was stopped up and mouth-breathing was necessary. I use the Mirage Swift and didn't think I'd like something over my mouth. I tried it with a "clear nose" anyway. It fits very well- both mouth seal and pillows; ( I was fitted with the small mask and med pillows) the mouth seal is extremely soft and comfortable. The headgear left minor impressions on my cheeks which faded in an hour. The Liberty is so quiet that, when I awakened early in the a.m., I had to tweak the nasal pillows just to be sure air was coming through!
It has lots of parts to clean, but disassembly and assembly are a snap. Small hose from the mask to regular tubing clips on and off easily if you have to get up during the night- no need to remove the mask. The headgear is secure and comfortable and has easy-on fasteners/clips. The entire kit included DVD, instructions, S-M-L pillows, mask, short hose headgear and blue mesh carry pouch. My local DME, TLC in TN, was very cooperative in getting this mask- in fact they had just held an inservice on it 2 days earlier.

Umm, Resmed, Quattro, Liberty.

I'd suggest you might want to wait on a few reviews (maybe 200 or so) of that Liberty, just based on my experience with the Quattro. Free advice.

I have been looking forward to hearing more about this mask and am glad some people are starting to get it. I too use a Swift II and I keep opening my bloody mouth at night. I think I JUST found a great and comfortable position that stops my mouth from lolling open after I go tot sleep. Anyway, I love the pillows because it does not restrcit the view but I was looking for something like this and I already know I like Resmed's pillows so this is what I am going to ask the RT to look into when I go for my checkup.
