Re: Battery recomendations
If I get an UPS, do I need to know the wattage of my cpap machine, I can't find any info on it. I stumbled upon this site by accident, and I'm sure glad i did, I'm learning a lot. Thanks for any help. Actually, most UPS systems are made to provide instant power for a very short time, ie enough time...

Re: Battery recomendations
The Respironics Universal Portable Battery Pack comes with an AC battery charger. This picture shows the AC power cable end of the the charger. Wow, that was so unclear from the wesbite, thanks! So you could use this as your permanent setup at home - battery plugged into wall and always charging, c...

Re: Battery recomendations
I assume that the Respironics battery pack is similar to my Battery Geek battery. When I use my auto M, I power it directly from my battery and I don't use the power brick; when the power goes out, the CPAP just keeps running. The charger is always connected to the battery to keep it charged. Actua...

Re: another UPS/battery backup post
Why bother? Get a power inverter for your car big enough to run the PC. You may want to keep the UPS in there for the disconnect when you start the engine. You could just wire the inverter directly off the battery, but: 1) You are going to drain your battery over time. 2) The voltage drops signific...

Need Humidifier
I do, however, need the heated humidifier. Even with the humidifier in non-heating mode, I wake up in pain from such a dry nose. The humidifier is hard wired to an a/c adapter. I also am a big fan of heated humidifiers. But the last time I camped I used a Xantrex Powerpack (battery/inverter) that w...

Re: another UPS/battery backup post
Can I verify something? A UPS is essentially a battery + an inverter. The UPS mentioned earlier in this thread (Xantrex XPower PowerSource 400) is essentially a 40 Amp hour battery, set up to charge from AC power and to convert the DC battery power back to AC. You can buy this item for around $140, ...

Leaks
You may also notice that your chart for the "more typical" night shows better control of your leaks than your chart for a "bad" night. I agree that leaks seem to be driving many (most?) of my highest pressures. I am trying to stop the leaks but I don't want to go to a full face mask or start taping...

Mouth Breathing
It refers to any air passing in any direction through the mouth. The problem with breathing out through the mouth is that you then depresurize your airway. A lot of apneas happen right at the very beginning of inhale, which means that your throat will be given the opportunity to close. Unless your ...

... I believe the machine looks at subtle changes in airflow to decide what to do next. It's not just looking at the events you see tick marked ... Thats what I think too, and thats why I asked this question to begin with, but so far the consensus seems to be that you WILL see an event for each inc...

... you can't expect the machine to react quickly to events ... This doesn't seem quick to me. Its hard to tell exactly, but it appears that nothing happens for more than a half-hour in both cases and the pressure still doesnt drop. I was expecting more like a few minutes? ... Try it on a straight ...

Events in Encore Pro
So if "events" drive the pressure increases and a lack of events means pressure should decrease, what is going on here? This was a sort of bad nite in general, but I especially dont understand the rise and consistent high pressure in the highlighted area (or after hour 8, which I forgot to highlight...

Mouth breathing
This may be a dumb question but does mouth breathing refer to breathing out of the mouth, breathing in thru the mouth, or both? It seems to me like it wouldn't be so bad (wearing a nose-only type mask) if you breathed in your nose and out your mouth, but thats probably not true???

Re: Auto-Pap pressure
First one: "Yes" (theoretically) Second one: "No" (pressure would fall back to your bottom pressure) Third one: "Yes" ("events" drive the pressure increases) Fourth one: "Yes" (at some point, pressure always falls back to lowest point until events occur) Cool. So far, things behave as I would expec...

Auto-Pap pressure
Since the previous post asked about CPAP pressure I thought I would post some questions about Auto-Pap pressure. My range is currently 8-12 so lets use those numbers in the examples. I am using Encore Pro and a new respironics M Auto-Pap (with c-flex set to 2). If I were to have absolutely no events...
