Re: Quattro FX -- Please post feedback on it
When I first tried on the FX I was wow'd. So comfortable. No forehead piece. I thought I had found CPAP heaven. Sadly, it only took about 3 hours before problems arose. Each night I use it, I get about 3 hours before the leaks begin. And once they start, there is no stopping them. It has a definitel...

Re: CPAP & Camping (Battery Powered)
I bought a power inverter for about $40 at Walmart. It plugs into the cigarette lighter on my truck and has 2 - 110V outlets. It runs my machine, no problems. If you are going for multiple nights make sure you run the car/truck during the day to re-charge the battery. I have camped with this setup d...

Re: Extending mask life?
I have found that 6 months is not an unreasonable life expectancy for a mask seal. I find that if I wash it daily in mild soap and do the vinegar soak about every month or two they last quite a while. I have read that skin oils do contribute to the breakdown of the silicone over time. I also learned...

Re: Anybody using a Hybrid with a Stash??
I have been using the Hybrid for a couple years and I have used it while I had a goatee (which included the moustache). I never had any trouble getting the nasal pieces to seal with facial hair. The upper lip was not an issue either so long as my 'stache was well-trimmed. It was the chin area I alwa...

Re: What was your first mask - sleep study and beyond.
I was asked if I needed nasal or full-face. Being totally new I had no idea. Fortunately another tech asked, "Do you breathe through your mouth?" I said yes and they handed me an Ultra Mirage. When the Rx was written for my own setup my PCP wrote the Rx for exactly what they had in the sleep center ...

Re: Zeo Personal Sleep Coach?
When I hear "Sleep Coach" I get images of a heavy-set, sweaty man yelling "C'mon! You can do better than that! Sleeeeep! Nooooow!" Not exactly my idea of an idillic way to drift off to sleep.
Although I do think it would be fun to tinker with these "toys" for a while.

Re: Anxiety Attacks During CPAP Operation
When I first started CPAP I had similar panic moments. I found that the best way for me to get past them and even avoid them was to focus on my breathing. In - out - in - out... I still do it today and I have been on CPAP for 6+ years. I don't get the panic anymore, but I think the rythmic nature of...

Re: CPAP Full masks and Facial Hair
I surrendered my goatee to win a good night's sleep. I tried many of the FFMs - Ultra Mirage, ComfortFull, Hybrid, FF431 & 432, etc. The FF431 was the best for working with my facial hair, but it was far from optimal. I fought leaks most nights. I finally decided I loved the Hybrid and sleeping well...

Re: I just got back from my sleep study. Arrrgh!
If the tech said you were snoring with the mask on you may have had some mouth leak. You may need a chin strap (never worked for me) or a full-face mask.
Hang in there and better luck with the next study.

Re: Don't you just love the smell of a new xPAP?
The only machine I ever used that had an odor was both M-series. I was merely borrowing the old phrase used when purchasing a new car, but new masks usually have a "new" smell for a few days. Two nights into using the M-Series and I am very happy man. Two great nights of sleep. I checked the AHI th...

Don't you just love the smell of a new xPAP?
I picked up my new gear on Thursday. I am very pleased. I have a REMstar Auto M Series with A-Flex and the accompanying humidifier. I also got a new Hybrid mask. The DME that is affiliated with the sleep lab I used does not carry the Hybrid so my doctor recomended another DME that turned out to be g...

My current pressure is 13, but that is based on my last sleep study which was 4 years ago. I won't have the results of this week's study for another week or two.

Re: Going on a cruise
I just returned from a cruise on 2/1. I have to agree - bring and extension cord and a multi-outlet jack (surge protector). As for the water, I used the tap water the entire week with no issues. I don't worry about distilled water at home and I figured that if the water was okay to drink it was okay...

Re: Any travel tips for driving trip?
I have started taking a surge protector with me for 2 reasons. 1) I often find that in some hotels electrical outlets can be scarce. 2) To protect my gear.
