Den, Yeah I know it's prescribed item, but often it's the DME's that will call to get the order from the doc, usually the patient's GP. And usually it's the doc's nurse you talk to. They will say "Mr. X's O2 sat got down to whatever % during his sleep study and we'd like to get an order to set him u...

As an aside (and an honest question) which other forums are pretty good? apneasupport? talkaboutsleep? others? I know CPAPtalk rocks hard, but what other ones do you guys frequent and find useful? I'm continually trying to broaden my knowledge base (so I can become a Cpap god......ok I'm kidding LOL...

Be warned...........that is a common trick that DME's do (the unscrupolous ones anyway) Usually, your SpO2 will be low during your first night study. They will use this info to get an order for O2. O2 is then setup by the DME, typically before you have a titration study. For most people, the PAP wil...

If you're talking about the swivel adapter, then no, they stopped including them even though the manual hasn't been updated.
Here's an article going into detail about it

Nasal Pillows and High Pressure
Hey all, I was wondering how many of you are successfully using nasal pillows with high pressures (say 14cmH20+)? I set up a patient this week with an Optilife and a pressure of 17cmH20. Though I had my reservations, the mask fitting was a success. He had used it during his titration study and had l...

Billmyinsurance and higher prices
Just a quick question here guys. If you use the billmyinsurance aspect of cpap.com, do they increase the prices on the equipment from what is shown on the main cpap.com page (which is cash sales?) I had a patient in the other day who had discovered cpap.com and was saying they file the cash price on...

I say, have the resiratory therapists be separate from the DMEs as professionals. Attach them to non-profit sleep clinics where all the professionals are paid well. They can help with equipment choice, help the patient learn how to get a really good mask, use the equipment AND software. The DMEs ca...

I would think it would depend more on leaks from the different masks. If the leaks are in normal range across the board for the different masks, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Of course nothing is absolute in this field. Try to focus on getting the pressure figured out right now. It looks like ...

a 10,000 Snore March?? God, could you imagine the decibels when the sun goes down?? I think we could get snoring accepted by slipping it into popular culture under the radar. The first way could be to get a rapper to incorporate sampled snores into a dance beat. THAT's how you win the next generation.

Don't forget to try switching to straight CPAP when yuo get a pressure figured out and check your AHI then. Might help some. As far as being puzzled regarding your titration study. Do keep in mind two things. 1. It was only one night 2. It wasn't even all night. Meaning, they start you off low of co...
