Re: Provigil anyone?
I personally know a number of people who have been on Provigil and say it doesn't do anything to/for them. I was on Provigil for about 6 weeks. I described it as LEGAL SPEED!!!!!! And...my coworkers threatened the MD who wrote my script(yes...I'm an RN) with BODILY harm if he ever prescribed more fo...

Re: OT: Skechers Shape-ups
I am an ICU RN who works 12 hour shifts. I SWEAR by mine. I have a bad knee and I can get through a shift without pain.Few weeks ago I wore my Birkenstocks to work...by 1pm...I felt crippled with 6 hours to go . The first time I wore them...my calves and thighs are SORE SORE SORE the next day. May I...

Re: pillows and puppies
Jan...you might be able to use tape on your hose as a temporary fix. You're lucky...a new hose only costs about $10. My son's 6 month puppy(OMG...is SHE a chewer) destroyed my Oracle mask...I was LIVID. Thank God...I was able to order a new one and in meantime had several old ones that I "parted" to...

Re: oracle oral mask
The Oracle is my DREAM mask. Been using it for almost 4 years. I don't get the drooling that a lot of people do. My mouth is terribly dry when I wake up but a quick sip of water fixes that. Yes...the nose plugs tend to slip out after a few hours(I've experimented and haven't found better ones). I ac...

Re: weight gain
I also gained quite a bit of weight when I first started on CPAP(45 lbs). PreCPAP after working 12 hour shifts...I was exhausted and would go to sleep...no dinner. Enter CPAP...more energy...I ate dinner every night; no more afternoon naps...endless snacking instead. Good for you...exercising and wa...

Re: Weight Loss and Breathing
In Nov. 2005 I started on CPAP pressure of 15. Dec 2007 I had gastric bypass surgery. I have lost 153 lbs; 37 to go!!! My CPAP is down to 9 but that was from a study 80 lbs ago. My MD just wrote a script and submitted to DME for a APAP due to my ongoing fluctuation in weight. My 20 yo son weighs abo...

Re: For those that are overweight.....
Looking back...I always snored...DH always nudged me to turn me on my side to stop the snoring. I weighed 140 lbs when we first got married so I wasn't overweight but now sure that I had sleep apnea back then. My highest weight was over 300 lbs and my pressure was 15 then. Thanks to gastric bypass I...

Re: Three Years Down!
Right behind you,LeeLee. The 17th is 3 years for me. The support forums have been a Godsend to me. I learned all that I know about sleep apnea/CPAP from this board and the ASAA board. Hey...I'm a girl who loves the Oracle mask. That says a LOT in itself. Thanks to all of the vet Pappers!!!!

Re: backup xPAP machine?
I bought my backup machine on cpapauction.com. It's an S7 lightweight(had 210 hours on it) came with heated humidifier...I paid $110!! I love when I have to overnight somewhere I don't have to pack up my first line machine and mask. This was a well worth investment.

Re: Where to sell barely used Remstar Auto w/ A-flex
I NEVER thought I'd live through that first 3 months when I had a LOVE/HATE relationship with my CPAP. Mask and machine even got thrown across the bedroom a couple of times back then. Then all of a sudden CPAP became my best friend. Seems my body had paid back all that sleep debt and CPAP was making...
