Backing up SD card
Backing up SD card
Hi there,
My mother has a loan Philips Dreamstation BIPAP AVAPS machine on loan that we are returning later this week as she gets her new ResMed machine tomorrow.
Since we are returning the loan machine the SD card inside it will be going with it.
I would like to make a copy of the data on the SD card in case her respiratory doctor wants to view it.
I am assuming I am able to just remove the SD card from the machine and plug it into my laptop and copy the data off and then put the SD card back in the BIPAP machine and nothing would be harmed?
This is probably a dumb question but I just don't want to mess it up.
Thanks all

Re: Backing up SD card
No problem... just copy all the info and put it on your hard drive in a folder you can find. You can probably put it on a thumb drive for the doctor, not sure... otherwise put it back on an SD card.

Re: Backing up SD card
I wouldn't keep the card without consulting the hospital who gave me the machine. You want to be on the best terms as possible with them, since you might need them in the future, returning the machine without the card is not a good contribution to that.
You can buy a card for the new machine if it comes without one, you can ask the doctor's office if they can use the data from the old machine, and you can ask the hospital wither it's OK to keep the present machine's card until after your doctor's appointment.
and you can copy all the data from the old card to your computer to back it up.
People have been creating zip files of the SD cards content and sending them to other people for review so I don't believe the specific physical card you have is the one you need. You only need all the data on it.

Re: Backing up SD card
I absolutely agree. I'd forgotten this was a loaner from a hospital. I thought it was from an equipment supplier who handles things differently.
I edited my post.

Re: Backing up SD card
Thank you all, I copied the data and placed the SD card back in the machine, all good
Re: Backing up SD card
You could have ingested the data into OSCAR.
Re: Backing up SD card
Some doctors refuse to trust OSCAR, an open source program created by volunteers.
Professionals have the software supplied by the machine making companies, and need to read from the card.

Re: Backing up SD card
They would not need to use OSCAR.
They could use the Data in the "OSCAR" File if it was transferred back to an SD Card or directly to their OEM Software via same file.
Their precious professional requirement is questionable. Its the patients data and info and what reason would make it unreliable or inaccurate by virtue of open source programmers.?
