Re: Hi!

Go to Pad A Cheek and order a mask liner. You can get them here at CPAP.com or order directly from Pad A Cheek. The liner goes between your mask and your skin and should prevent rashes or pimples. Some of us have skin reactions to the plastics masks are made of and the Pad A Cheek liners help. In th...

Re: Dry eyes from vent

Go have a look at https://dryeyeshop.com/ . They have a lot of different things to use to protect eyes at night. Before I found my current mask - it doesn't vent toward my eyes - I used a couple of their products to help reduce "my mask vents in my eyes and my eyes are dry as heck and painful in the...

Re: Can your wear a mouth guard while using a CPAP

Yes. I actually wear two. On my bottom teeth I wear an Invisalign retainer and on my upper teeth I wear a bite guard. Both were fitted by my dentist.

I use a nasal pillow mask and do fine.

Re: CPAP PRO II?

I used the original CPAP PRO mask back when I first started CPAP. I liked it, it was comfortable and worked well for me. I believe it helped condition me to keep my mouth shut when wearing a mask. It also vents nowhere near your face, so it didn't blow in my eyes at all. However, the comfort pros ou...

I get a kick out of polls, even though I refused to vote in this one. ;-)

Re: Is Amazon.com a good place for CPAP equipment?

I buy a lot of mask parts (not legal for them to sell a whole mask) there. I've also bought machine filters for MUCH less than other brick and mortar store sells them for. Sometimes the prices are real good and I save a lot. Other times I save only a few cents or dollars.

Re: 6 months in and having trouble getting full night's CPAP usage on a regular basis

Some people do better with less or even no humidity. Try it for a few nights with no humidifier and see what happens. I use passover humidity (the air passes over the water on its way up the hose). I tried heated humidity but ended up with stuffy and clogged sinuses and mouth breathing with a nasal ...

Re: Melatonin

Another thing I don't think anyone else mentioned - try to use melatonin that is sublingual (dissolves under the tongue) instead of oral. The body absorbs it better if it doesn't go through the gut. My husband uses the 2.5 mg sublingual tablet made by Source Naturals which can be found and purchased...

Re: Nasal masks bad for deviated septum?

Absolutely not. I have a very deviated septum and use a nasal mask quite well. I use a bit of coconut oil-based lip balm on my nares to insure a good seal.

I have used the Swift FX and currently use the Nuance. I like the Nuance better because it vents better; more downward than outward.

Re: Changes To CPAPtalk Operating and Moderation Practices

Finally! Thank you, Johnny G. and team. Hooray for Pugsy! I despaired of this site ever being what it was. I quit referring other hose heads here due to the utter crap that seemed to cover just about every post. I pretty much quit coming here myself except to check monthly to see if ol' end-of-alpha...

Oh yay. Another "science type" coming to the forum with a survey who has not bothered to read ANY of the information already on it. I have zero respect for you. However, I'm in a whimsical mood and have a couple of minutes to kill so I'll indulge you. 1. How long have you had sleep apnea? What level...

Re: Nuance & Nuance Pro: which one?

I use the Nuance Pro but have tried both. I found the cloth strap comfortable, but it didn't stabilize the nasal pillows as well for me - I was getting more leaks. I prefer the plastic frame of the Pro version as I can exactly position the gel pads and they pretty much stay "stuck" to my face where ...

Re: Nuance Pro mask

I typically use my frame until a gel pad pops out. The first frame lasted eight months and the second one lasted seven months. I wash the frame daily with Dr. Bronner's soap. This is a great mask for me. I don't love it as I doubt I'll ever love a CPAP mask, but it is the best one I've tried. I don'...

Re: Middle night wakings - have to stop CPAP

One thing I do when I have a bad mask night is allow myself to take off my mask BUT I may not stay and sleep in my bed. I must get up and go "sleep" on our old, lumpy, narrow and uncomfortable couch. This way, I don't allow my mind to set up the "I must take the mask off to get back to sleep" trick....
