Large Leak Frustration

Post by sleepingbetter0209 » Mon Mar 18, 2024 5:59 pm

I am not new to therapy as I am CPAP patient for last 15 months; however, I have started with my new mask about 60 days ago (Resmed Airlift F30 full face mask ) and it was great for about 4 weeks- I have replaced cushion after 1 month and always had good seal and mimim leaks. All of a sudden, I am getting huge leaks and I cannot understand why. MY mask fits well and headgear appears not that worn or stretched. I am noticing my magnet is getting unattached on left side every night for last 3 nights when I wake up in middle of night and discover it is unattached. I reattach it and it stays on for remainder of the sleep session. Any ideas what I can do to get my leak rate down? I was always at acceptable level up until a week ago. I am perplexed and bewildered! I have attached my OSCAR data from last night.

A lot of people do their Oscars on e.g. Imgur.com and leave a link to it in a post here.

It sounds frustrating that your Resmed Airlift F30 mask leaks have suddenly increased even though the mask seems to fit well. The nightly detachment of the magnet on the left side could be the culprit. Here's what you can try:

Check Magnet Placement: Ensure the magnets on both sides are securely attached to their corresponding points on the mask frame.
Clean Magnets: Dirt or debris might hinder the magnetic connection. Try cleaning the magnets with a gentle wipe.
Replace Headgear: Even if it doesn't appear overly worn, a slightly stretched headgear might not provide enough tension. Consider replacing it for a tighter fit.
Review OSCAR Data: Look for specific leak locations in your data to see if it aligns with the magnet issue.
If these steps don't resolve the leak, consult your sleep therapist or CPAP provider. They can offer further guidance or check if there might be a mask fitting issue you haven't noticed.

Thank you for the reply. Would you suggest I tell my DME provider or my Pulmonologist (the prescriber of the therapy)
