Take mask off in the middle of the night

Post by jbpogue » Sun Mar 17, 2024 5:55 pm

Does anyone else have a problem with taking off your mask in the middle of the night? I usually wake up, think about going to the bathroom. Take off my mask and then fall asleep without getting up or putting my mask back on. Anyone else do this? If so what did you do about it? Thanks

Take off my mask
It was normal for me when I first started. In time your body/mind will get used to it. It might be helpful to keep a log of the hours you used the mask.

My sister was like this. She said little by little she slept longer until eventually she was wearing it all night. As sleepgeek explained, your mind needs to get used to having the mask on.

I had this issue when starting CPAP, but the issue was nasal pillows coming off too easily so I switched to a regular nasal mask.

In your case I'd suggest leaving the mask on your face and just disconnect the hose at the attachment point to make it easy to put back on.

Does anyone else have that problem? YES!!! This was me in spades for the first 18 months of my CPAP therapy!!!

Somehow I finally got things under control in November of last year. But look at this chart. All that red is me yanking my mask off in the middle of the night!!!
