Re: First night with new ASV (AirCurve 10 ASV)

My AHI is often below 1.0. Last night was 0.13.
I set EPAP mode ASV
EPAP 6.0 PS 3.0-12.0
This works well for me for the past 5 years. There are certainly exceptions.
I don't have the technical expertise of many of the members here, but have learned the basics.

Re: Choosing a mask

[/quote] Wow, you got sat down in a conference room ... luxury! I was just handed a box in the crowded waiting room. And after using the device for a day and loading the data into Oscar, I discovered they hadn't changed the time - it was set for east coast time so 3 hours off. Makes me wonder what e...

Re: Choosing a mask

Well, we are home from our visit to Crapria. They were true to form. They brought us into their conference room offered us a seat and slid a nice Resmed travel case across the table and told us it is all programed and ready to go. I said I'll just open it up and take look. Surprise, SURPRISE, it was...

Re: OT:::::Medicare Advantage plans "are taking over Medicare and they are taking advantage of elderly patients,"

Given all the freebee available on some Advantage, it's got to make you wonder how these are paid for. (freebee example: groceries mentioned earlier, gym memberships etc). Assuming that the government medicare (original or traditional medicare) is administered efficiently and effectively , how is i...

Re: Choosing a mask

So I'd hit up your sleep doctor / technician / lab rather than rely on Crapria! My wife had a home sleep test mailed to her. We mailed it back. A few days later we got the report, signed by a doctor we never met, in our email. We got the insurance approval Tuesday and we will be going to Crapria Fri...

Re: Choosing a mask

We are about to head to my "favorite DME, Crapria" to pick up my wife's first APAP and mask. I have already determined it will be an Airsense 10 Auto with heated tube. Crapria informed me they no longer allow patients to actually try on a mask before the select it. They measure your face for size, d...

Re: OT:::::Medicare Advantage plans "are taking over Medicare and they are taking advantage of elderly patients,"

Seems like a relatively balanced overview/comparison? Ever notice those who claim to be "way ahead" or "be happy" never volunteer what MA plan they are using? I am about to start my fourth year with Alignment Health Plan in San Diego County. One reason not to mention the MA plan name is they offer ...

If I want culture, I can go down to the beach and watch the surfers.
Unfortunately they are usually gone by the time I wake up. so I miss out on that treat.
We also have mountains here higher than 20 feet.

Re: Are central apneas more common at higher pressures?

I am relatively ignorant compared to those who have already answered. But I also seldom have any obstructive events, mostly all centrals.

I suspect that centrals cause higher pressures, not the other way around.

Re: Heart Problems

I have atrial fibrillation (AFIB). Your symptoms sound very familiar. I suggest you contact your doctor/cardiologist and arrange for a Holter monitor as suggested by Janknitz. I have been tested several times over the years, and have confirmed I have silent, constant AFIB. I do notice it occasionally.

Re: LATE INSURANCE PRE-AUTH BY CPAP PROVIDER

You forgot the Cardinal Rule when dealing with DMEs.

NEVER ALOW YOUR DME TO HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR CREDIT CARD FOR ANY REASON.

I always have my bank mail them a check. I don't even want them to know my checking account numbers.

Re: Replacement for AirCurve 10 VAuto?

I just replaced my Aircurve 10 ASV with another Aircurve 10 ASV, slightly used (750 hours). I have also used a Resperonics ASV. I will stick with Resmed. Keep your eyes open for a deal. Check with ScondWind. Even LSat sometimes offers used machines. I now have 2 backup ASVs. Not enthusiastic about e...

Re: OT:::::Medicare Advantage plans "are taking over Medicare and they are taking advantage of elderly patients,"

At my age, I wouldn't want to be treated anyway. We all have to die. I've sat with too many relatives and friends who were just "being kept alive", not living. BTW, Gramps and I are each way ahead with costs of our Medicare Advantage plans. If your picture is any indication of your age and health, ...

I suspect some of the 4 to 6 year olds get help with the reading part, but may still benefit from the information.
