VPAP - I need a new machine and mask

Post by DDICKS » Fri Jan 05, 2024 12:09 pm

Hi everyone!

My (very old) used S9 VPAP needs replacement. I am getting all kinds of error messages. (Machine over hours, humidifier error, etc.) But, I am trying to keep a long story, short.

I bought this machine used. It has over 22,000 hours. I now have insurance that 'may' cover some of the cost. What are your recommendations for new VPAP machines?

I am using an Amera Full Face Mask. I have to keep the mask tightly strapped to my face and I have strap marks on my cheeks for several hours. I am a mouth breather. I would love to use a nasal mask. As long as I have good humidity and maybe a chin strap, I may be able to use a nasal mask. If not, what are your recommendations for a new full face mask, suitable for VPAP?

Assuming you are NOT using the S9 VPAP Adapt....look at the current ResMed Bilevel which is the AirCurve 10 VAuto.
https://www.resmed.com/en-us/healthcare ... -10-vauto/

Does your machine say "ADAPT" anywhere on the face of the machine??? The Adapt is a specialized Bilevel machine used to treat both central apnea and obstructive apnea. If it says Adapt on it...you need the AirCurve 10 ASV model.

Now.....if you are willing to buy privately again....I have an AirCurve 10 VAuto that is an extra and low hour machine (I need to check the hours) that I would sell privately. It is NOT an ASV model though.
I just want to make sure as to which model you are using.
Contact me via private message if interested or if you have questions.

Give me a few minutes and I will come up with some mask recommendations as a separate post.
The Amara full face mask is a beast and there are newer and better alternatives out there now. The Amara is quite old in mask age....

You sign off "Denise"....I assume female???? If so, I might have a nasal mask I could include with the machine that you might like.

Some better IMHO full face masks.

ResMed AirFit F30i
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -face-mask

F & P Evora
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/f-p-ev ... r-fit-pack

ResMed AirFit F30
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... k-headgear

Or take a stroll through all the available full face masks here to see if anything interests you
https://www.cpap.com/plp/full-face-cpap-mask/ZT0yNjU

For a nasal mask option...either the nasal pillow mask or the under the nose cushion mask

You can take a stroll through the list
https://www.cpap.com/plp/nasal-cpap-masks/ZT0yNjQ

or this one is pretty sweet.
The AirFit N30 under the nose cushion mask. I have a brand new one of these.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... h-headgear

or nasal pillow

Take a stroll
https://www.cpap.com/plp/nasal-pillows- ... ks/ZT0yNjY

or one of my other favorites
the AirFit P10 and I have one of these that is brand new as well
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... k-headgear

And finally....my current mask...the Eclipse...no headgear at all.

Hi Pugsy,

My machine is an S9 VPAP Adapt, unfortunately. I cannot thank you enough for responding. I am not sure that my images will show here. I need some help.

Pugsy,

You have been so incredibly helpful. I cannot thank you enough. I wish that I did not need an Adapt machine.

That "motor life exceeded" message is just a message and really doesn't mean much until the machine just up and quits on you. It could last another 10 K hours...or it could crap out next week.
Good idea to start making plans to at least have a back up available.

I am sorry that my VAuto won't work for you. I need to find it a new home as I don't need 3 of these machines.

When you stroll through all those masks looking for a new one....if you spot something your want to try check with me as I might have one in the donations box and those are barely used (if used at all) and they are free.

The masks I have that are brand new I paid for myself but I will sell at a discount.

So I have both ....gently used for free or brand new for a discount. I just don't have a lot of different types.
I used to have a much larger inventory of gently used donated masks but a while back cpap.com changed their return policy for a full refund if returned within 30 days and people started utilizing the return policy more and donating less.
Plus being female....some of the donated masks are going to be too large for a female head/face.
I am small female myself...so my own masks that I have purchased are going to be smaller.

Hi Pugsy,

Since you have been so helpful, I will contact you for new and upgraded masks. :) I will PM you.

If you have any leads on ASV machines, I would greatly appreciate it.

BTW, my machine just started 'dropping out' - if those are the proper words....

Air comes down and drops completely off leaving me feel like I am gasping for the next breath. Does not happen all of the time, but when it does, it wakes me up and feels like when we have had a power outage during a storm.
