Change REMstar auto settings

Post by Wistful » Tue Apr 03, 2007 4:13 pm

I am having aerophagia and tear duct issues and would like to try switching my RS auto with C-flex to auto to see if it helps. I haven't got any idea how to do it. Can anyone help me?
thanks!!!

Pressure 7-9 C-Flex 3 AHI 1.6
Mirage Swift
Marine Mask Seal so my mask doesn't leak
Polygrip Strips so my mouth doesn't leak
Di-Oval for aerophagia
Eye drops for air coming out my tear ducts
Pur-Sleep so I can fall asleep despite all of the above.

You are showing a Pro2 in your profile, making it into a AUTO might take a screwdriver and a hammer. Jim

I see Jim beat me to it.

But, the C-Flex has 4 settings......0, 1, 2, and 3.
Zero is off.
One is the least relief
Two is a little more relief
Three is the most relief.

Take your pick.

I actually know how to set the C-flex, but thank you. I want to set the it form Cpap to auto, and that can only be changed in the clinician setting.

Here this post should help a little, but it's not for an auto. Send me your email address in a PM and I will send you a copy of the manual.

Hi Erin,
Here's the brief version while Linda sends you that manual:

Unplugging the auto and then plugging it back in while holding down both gray arrows lets you access the clinician menu. From there, you can scroll through the menu until you find "mode." If you're in CFLEX mode, it'll say "CFLE," if you're in straight CPAP mode (no cflex) it'll say CPAP. If you want auto mode with CFlex change it so it says "AFLE." If you want auto without CFlex, change it so it says "APAP." Hope that helps. Oh, and don't mess with ramp while you're in there. If you do, you could inadvertently change it to split night mode (where half the night is spent with no real treatment), and you don't want that.

Machine: M-Series Auto
Mask: Headrest
No humidifier
On the hose since 2005.

Knowing how to enter the system is handy to know. They wouldn't give that to me saying it's dangerous if patients start to mess around themselves!

Does this mean that if you buy a Remstar Auto (or M Series Auto), that it is OK if the clinician sets it up for you, because you can always override and change the settings? Even if certain features are disabled?

I don't think it's a good idea to mess with much, just wanted to make sure I was on auto-cflex, which I was, and put my base pressure down from 9 to 8, (now I'm, 8-12 rather that 9-12) so it is easier to fall asleep and allows the machine to maintain a lower pressure when possible, so as to hopefully reduce aerophagia and air coming out my tear ducts.

If I hadn't, I'd still be sitting at a pressure of 18 when I only needed 10 - 12 to have good therapy.
Do whatever it takes to monitor and improve your therapy.
